Devandran Karunakaran

Devandran Karunakaran has had an eventful life, both personally and professionally. During his university days at Leicester, he formed close friendships with fellow students from diverse backgrounds and ethnicities, some of whom are still his best friends today. He was also an active member of the university rugby team, where he competed at the university level.

After completing his post-graduate studies, Devandran moved to London to begin his legal career. He was fortunate to secure a training contract with a well-known UK-based international law firm, which is highly competitive and difficult to obtain. He chose to specialize in ship finance law, offshore energy, and renewables and has since worked for two international law firms, including a stint living and working in Piraeus, Greece.

During his time in London, Karunakaran built a personal and professional network that allowed him to develop his technical legal knowledge while being mindful of commercial and business considerations for the benefit of his clients. He considers London his second home, where he lived for almost 13 years before returning to Singapore.

Karunakaran is a family man who cherishes his close relationships with his extended family in Singapore. He is happily married to his wife, and his university housemate was the best man at their wedding. He is dedicated to his work, clients, and family and strives to balance his personal and professional life.
