Career Paths
There are numerous career paths available within the Detroit Police Department. Upon successful completion of the probationary period and two weeks of service, officers become eligible to apply for a wide range of specialty assignments. These opportunities span across our core bureaus—Special Operations, Routine Operations, and Police Investigation Operations—which include various divisions and units dedicated to specialized areas of law enforcement.
