WHO? Cadets who have not DoDMERB cleared or have not updated their AF Form 28 for AY2023-2024
Rising 200s & 500s, if you are not yet DoDMERB cleared, you need to provide a new AF Form 28 or Sports Physical before you are eligible to participate in LLAB and PT. AF Form 28s/Sports Physicals are only active for a single academic year. A new form must be presented for the second academic year if not yet qualified by DoDMERB.
IAW 36-2011, Vol 3, 8.2.4., Non-contract cadets who have not completed a DoDMERB physical are required to have an AFROTC Form 28 or a university, NCAA, or the state-approved sports physical form on file with the detachment to participate in LLAB/PT. If required, it must be accomplished no earlier than 30 days before the beginning of each academic year and is valid for that academic year only.
The suspense to submit the new AF Form 28 is 15 Aug 23. Any LLAB or PT sessions missed because due to not possessing the required medical paperwork will count as an absence.
Completed Form 28s/Sports Physicals can be sent to TSgt Hernandez (jocchili@asu.edu), SSgt Williams, and Ms. Vanessa.

BLUF: The USSF published the FY24-FY25-FY26 Selection Board Process.
FY24 USSF Selection/Classification Board
The FY24 USSF Selection/Classification Board has resumed. This applies to ALL cadets with a DOC in FY24. Emails with links to complete the interview portion of the process were mailed out and Cadet interviews were due 17 Apr 2023. No estimated date for result release has been provided.
FY26 USSF Selection Board (Spring'24)
Current AS 200s with a FY26 DOC who did not compete on this year's USSF Selection Board will be eligible to compete on next year's board. Similar to this year, next year's board will be run in parallel to PSP.
USSF Selection and Classification Process beginning with PSP 24 and Onward
A USSF Selection Board will run concurrently with the PSP board. All cadets meeting the PSP board (on both 4- and 5-year degree plans) who are volunteers for USSF will meet the USSF selection board (i.e. during PSP 24, cadets competing for both FY 26 EAs and FY 27 Adv EAs will compete on this board). Cadets must indicate interest in the Space Force via WINGs Career Interest as well as via USSF survey that will be sent out in the fall. A USSF Classification Board will occur the year before a cadet graduates, similar to the Rated/Non-Rated Line Boards. Cadets may be allowed to submit revised SFSC preferences however an additional interview is NOT expected to be required.
Cadets interested in USSF should communicate desire with his or her APAS.

The following is a listing of the active USAF aircraft. This is extremely helpful for general awareness of what your options are. I did a random check and most of the links do highlight where the aircraft are currently based at. So, this could be a winner for the information you are looking for.
List of active United States Air Force aircraft
That list can then be also linked with this site that has official Fact Sheets on the USAF’s inventory. Once you click on the respective link, it takes you to a site that provides its mission, features, background, characteristics, etc.
The article is about a cadet from Det 780 from South Dakota State University sharing his experience about the AFA Warfare Symposium on how it enhances his perspective on an Air Force career.

Attached to this email is an interest survey to gauge interest in developing a website which centralizes resources and postings for finding and applying for research positions relevant to cadets and students.
Plans are being made to create a job board for research positions. Additionally, a framework is being made for cadets and civilians to create their own research projects and have them supported with grants and funds.
Filling out the survey will help us develop the 25th Research Group to meet the specific needs and ambitions of cadets interested in research opportunities.

The Reserve Categorization Process (RCP) is part of the Total Force AFROTC commissioning effort. Cadets selected for AF Reserve (AFR) assignments receive an AFR service commitment equivalent to the Active Duty service commitment (ADSC) they would have incurred from completing AFROTC. Cadets on track for meeting commissioning requirements may apply. AFR is looking for cadets within their final year of ROTC.
AFROTC cadets may join as a rated or non-rated line officer. Non-rated officer opportunities are most beneficial to cadets who would prefer working for the Air Force in a part time capacity. While there are full time opportunities within the AF Reserve, non-rated officers begin as traditional part-time Reservists.
Cadets wishing to join the AFR must take the following steps:
1. Educate themselves on the process & opportunities open to them before beginning this process. Refer to these attachments: program brochure, unit sponsorship letter template.
2. Notify their Det cadre of their intention to apply for a Reserve non-rated position.
3. Det must submit conditional conditional release memo on behalf of the cadet.
4. Approved cadets should then email RS.AFRCRS.OfficerAccession@us.af.mil workflow box with their name, contact information, & current zip code so that they can be paired with the Officer Accessions Recruiter nearest to them.
5. The Officer Accessions Recruiter will work with cadets to locate a desirable position in a location that works for their needs and the needs of the Air Force Reserve.
APPLICATION TIMELINE:
Cadets may apply beginning about a year from graduation up until the deadline below. However:
--Once selected for an Active Duty AFSC, AFPC must request release from the owning career field who may or may not release the cadet; critical/must-
fill career fields are less likely to release cadets
Cadets with rapid EADs and class start dates are less likely to be released due to trouble backfilling training seats
NLT 120 days prior to commissioning - RRFP must receive RCP-N conditional release memo
NLT 90 days prior to commissioning - RRFP must receive signed 1288
Bottom line: Start early! Release gets less likely the closer you get to DOC/EAD. A cadet outside this timeline may still be considered.
Cadets interesting in applying for 19ZB need to talk to their respective APAS at least a month prior to the application due date. Please see this attachment for the different dates for application deadlines & phases.
DISCUSSION:
Special Warfare Officers require high levels of physical fitness, mental agility, professionalism, leadership, interpersonal skills, initiative, psychological stability, motivation, and technical competency. To be selected for one of these highly competitive career fields, candidates must go through the assessment and selection process. Cadets must be FY23 and FY24 grads and able to obtain a Top Secret (eligible) security clearance. Cadets also need to have an outstanding resume and no negative personal history.
DELIVERABLES:
Interested cadets are encouraged to talk with their respective APAS immediately, but NLT one month prior to the application due date. All questions should be relayed to cadre directly and cadets are to refrain from contacting HQs/Region directly.
Prerequisite: AFOQT. AS200/250 cadets will take the TBAS in the Spring 2023 term.
Scheduling: Please call the Luke AFB Testing Office at 623-856-2253 and speak to Ms. Darcy Lowery or Mr. Joe Schuch. Testing occurs weekly on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1000 and 1200.
This is about a 1-2 hour test at Luke AFB so plan accordingly. After scheduling with the Luke AFB Testing Office – email test date/time information to Captain Rayhill and indicate whether you have a CAC or will need base access.
Location: Luke AFB Building 1153 Room 1201. Refer to pg 3 & 4 of the following document for directions.
PCSM is an index that quantifies a pilot candidate's aptitude for success at Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT).
