Cadet Wing Commander
Wow! What an incredible semester we have had here at Detachment 159. Over these past few months, I have had the absolute privilege of working with some of the most motivated, competent, and eager future officers.
This semester has been a busy one. It is the first time we are switching to an “A-staff” structure for the cadet wing. This change has allowed us as cadets to gain more relevant experience working within this structure, preparing us for what active duty will be like. My A-staff is full of absolute rockstars that have made this a near seamless transition.
I have full faith that our next wing commander, C/Juan Mejia, will expertly continue this transition into the Fall semester. Speaking of C/Mejia, he was selected for CTA duty this summer and the prestigious Fly NATO program, where he will spend two weeks experiencing NATO operations and gain a report understanding of the important role they play in our national defense.
We also had an astounding 27 cadets selected to attend Field Training this summer. This would not have been possible without the endless dedication of C/Easton Flamand and his FTP staff. They have worked hard to ensure our cadets are prepared for the ever-changing landscape of Field Training and the Air Force as a whole.
We have 14 soon-to-be Second Lieutenants commissioning this May. As they head off into the Air Force, we here at Det 159 are extremely proud of their contributions to this program, and we know each one of them will do amazing things in their careers!
Join us in saying a heartfelt goodbye to some of our wonderful cadre members who will be moving on! Lt Col Cooper is retiring from the Space Force after 20 years of honorable service. Major Brading is heading off to Marine Corps School. Captain Julian will be separating from the Air Force and heading off to greener pastures. We thank these cadre members for the love and support they have given to this program and for the role that they have played in developing hundreds of future officers!
These are just a few of the highlights from this incredible Spring semester. We are proud of our cadets and cadre for making this program as incredible as it is. Thank YOU for all of your support and as always, Charge On!
