1971 - First transcontinental flight to London, England
1972 - Singapore Airport Terminal Services (SATS), is set up to manage the ground services at Paya Lebar Airport
1981 - Singapore Airlines' operations move from Paya Lebar Airport to the brand new Singapore Changi Airport, where the airline operates out of today
1983 - First Boeing 747 flight to Los Angeles, USA via Tokyo
1989 - Tradewinds, otherwise known as SilkAir, is set up as a second airline of the Singapore Airlines Group
1990 - First flight arrives at the newly opened Changi Terminal 2 from Amsterdam, the Netherlands
1999 - KrisFlyer, Singapore Airlines' frequent flyer programme launches
2001 - KrisWorld, Singapore Airlines' inflight entertainment system, is the first to provide audio- and video-on-demand to all passengers in all classes
2003 - Singapore Airlines' receives its first ultra long range Airbus A340-500 aircraft, designed to operate the world's longest flight from Singapore to New York
2007 - Singapore Airlines' takes delivery of the world's first Airbus A380-800 aircraft from Toulouse, France
2007 - First commercial flight on the new A380 operates to Sydney, Australia
2008 - First flight departs from Changi's new Terminal 3 as SQ318 to London Heathrow
2016 - Singapore Airlines' takes delivery of its first Airbus 350-900 aircraft
2017 - Singapore Airlines unveils its latest cabin products onboard its Airbus A380 fleet
2018 - Singapore Airlines resumes the world's longest flight, SQ22 from Singapore to New York/Newark (EWR), operating with an Airbus A350 Ultra Long Range (ULR) aircraft
2019 - Singapore Airlines is awarded Skytrax's "World Best Cabin Crew" award
2021 - SilkAir merges with Singapore Airlines
