Solo/Ensemble

Everyone is encouraged to perform in Solo and Ensemble at East High School. Students are encouraged to look for music to play alone or with friends however, Mr. Thering will help you find something if you need it.

This is a great opportunity to refine your music preparation and performance skills, build bonds with your section and show other schools what we are made of.

We have two performances, a recital here at East and the main competition, operated by the IHSMA, hosted at a Des Moines area school that gets chosen on rotation.

Solo/Ensemble Recital

Where: East High School Band Room

When: February 28, 2019

Who: Everyone!

Attire: Dress semi-formal; our concert attire of black bottom/white top is good.

Mr. Thering may choose to give informal ratings/comments on ballots to prepare you for IHSMA Competition.

IHSMA Solo/Ensemble Competition

Where: Roosevelt High School

When: April 6, 2019

Rules and Important Information

1. You can practice off of photocopies but you must use originals for IHSMA competition.
2. Measures must be numbered for you and the judge.
3. You must fill out one ballot for your event.
4. Please dress in concert attire.
