During my undergraduate, I preformed research under the advising of Dr. Kelsey Crane focusing on the effects that folding has on fold-related thrust fault zones.
This research was presented at GSA Connects 2021. To see a poster and research overview CLICK HERE.
We used measurements and photos gathered through field work to create 3D models of multiple outcrops in Agisoft Metashape. Importing the 3D models into MOVE structural geology software and ArcGIS map allowed us to understand fracture density and connectivity laterally and vertically across the fault zone. By understanding the fracture characteristics, new interpretations can be made about how a thrust fault zone's permeability changes from the folded hanging wall to non-folded foot wall.
