Breakout Sessions

Fighting Burnout Through Radical Self-Care: Although burnout has been a known psychological syndrome since the 1970s, research on combating it wasn't popularized until the mid-2010s. During this session, we will work on ways we can beat burnout through the act of active radical self-care - a.k.a. actively placing YOUR needs as a human being above others!

The rising emphasis on making in education is, in part, because of the tangible outcomes: the gadgets, 3D prints, robots, and more. Of greater importance, though, is what is learned in the process of making: collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and creative confidence. So let’s make something! In this session, participants will step into HIVE’s Shop and Lab and see what they can create. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, just a willingness to try stuff and embrace mistakes! :-)
