About Dayamudra

MY BACKGROUND

Hello. I'm Dr. Dayamudra Dennehy. I am an ESL Instructor and Distance Education Coordinator at CCSF.

I have taught Credit, Non-Credit, and Vocational ESL classes at CCSF since 1999, at 8 different campuses. I currently teach synchronous and asynchronous ESL classes, train faculty in IOTL and AOTL, and collaborate across the college on the design of our online program.

In 2011 was ordained as a Buddhist on a mountaintop in Spain on an intensive 3-month meditation retreat. My Buddhist name is Sanskrit and means "Gesture of Compassion".

MORE ABOUT MY TEACHING & LEARNING

I have taught in the California public schools and at private language schools in San Francisco, New York, and Indonesia. 

I have designed community English language programs with Mayan weavers in the mountains of Guatemala and with Gypsy/Roma artists in a village in Hungary.

I have attended university in Japan and Mexico. I have taught yoga and meditation in The US, The UK, Mexico, Spain, and India.

In 2008 I founded an educational non-profit organization. I served there as volunteer Creative Director and collaborated with a team of India-based grassroots educators for 15 years at our leadership academy and educational residence for caste-oppressed students.

I have led workshops and presentations at CATESOL, SxSW Edu, The Online Teaching Conference, and with the CVC/OEI, and been Guest Lecturer at University of San Diego, California State University Fullerton, and San Francisco State University.
