STEPHANIE COUNCIL, Conductor, educator, and singer Dr. Stephanie Council is Associate Director of Choral Studies and Assistant Professor of Choral Music at the University of Nevada Las Vegas where she conducts the University Chorale and Chamber Choir and teaches Choral Conducting, Choral Literature, and Choral Methods. Dr. Council’s primary areas of study include conducting, choral pedagogy, concert programming, and early music performance practice. An experienced educator at the middle school through adult community levels, Dr. Council is passionate about choral pedagogy related to the development of individual music literacy, collective sound building, and the cultivation of inclusive and affirming learning environments. Dr. Council previously led the choral programs at Simpson College and Mount Holyoke College. She is the recipient of multiple awards for her teaching including the Best New Faculty award given by the Mount Holyoke Student Government Association and the Helen DeVitt Jones Excellence in Graduate Teaching award for courses she taught at Texas Tech University. She is a sought-after lecturer in choral music education and conductor of collegiate, high school, and youth honor choirs around the United States, and she was a graduate finalist in the American Choral Directors Association National Conducting Competition. Her most recent engagements include conducting the 2023 Nevada Music Educators Association All-State SSA Choir, 2021 Pride of Iowa Honor Choir, 2019 Vermont Northwest District Honor Choir, and serving as a faculty conducting fellow at the Summer Choral Festival at Westminster Choir College. She has conducted clinics and honor choirs in Oklahoma, Texas, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Iowa, Nevada, Michigan, and in various European locations.A strong proponent of new music, Dr. Council is an active commissioner and performer of new works. In the fall of 2021 she served as the chorus master for Jonathan Dove’s The Enchanted Pig at Simpson College. In 2022 she served as the Chorus Master for the new opera Letters to Lily with the Las Vegas Opera, and she looks forward to serving in the capacity again for the 2023 production of Paul Fowler’s Behold the Man. Dr. Council sings professionally with mirabai, a professional women’s ensemble conducted by Dr. Sandra Snow and the San Antonio Chamber Choir, a professional chamber choir conducted by Richard Bjella. In the past, she has been engaged to sing with the Philadelphia Symphonic Choir and at the Spoleto Festival USA. She is on the board of the Nevada chapter of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and has served on the board of the Massachusetts chapter of ACDA and the National Board of the National Collegiate Choral Organization (NCCO) in the past. She has extensive experience conducting church choirs and assisting with worship planning. Council received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting and a graduate certificate in early music performance practice from Texas Tech University. She holds a Master of Music with distinction in choral conducting from Westminster Choir College and Bachelor of Music degrees in both vocal music education and vocal music performance from Oklahoma State University.
JORDAN MADAGAME, Mr. Jordan Madagame is super excited to be a part of the DSLV team! He started his full-time teaching career with the Clark County School District in 2018. Within his time in the Clark County School District, he was fortunate enough to have been hired at Del Sol Academy of the Performing Arts where he served as the Director of Vocal Studies. Recently, he and his students were invited to sing at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City for a concert that celebrated Asian & Pacific Islander Stories within choral music works. Jordan served as an Arts Administrative Strategist for The Keys Conservatory at Pinecrest Academy of Nevada. He is the Executive Director & Founder for the nonprofit organization called "Crescendo," in which he serves as a facilitator to help maintain public school music programs in the community & provides music scholarships for students pursing music in higher education. His talent and love for music have afforded him opportunities to sing at various local venues throughout Las Vegas and also allowed him to sing in the national television arena on "Showtime at the Apollo" in the Apollo Theater in NYC, television shows featured on The Disney Channel, such as "Cory in the House," "Hannah Montana," etc. He was provided some work opportunities with Disney Marketing, taking him to California, Canada, and Tokyo, Japan. He also worked with American Express and performed for their international conferences in Las Vegas and Maui, Hawaii. In the Summer of 2013, Mr. Madagame attended the American Institute of Musical Studies Opera Summer Program, "AIMS in Graz, Austria," where he earned an international music certificate in Voice, German language, and Art Song Poetry. Mr. Madagame earned the following degrees from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance, a Bachelor of Music in Music Education & a certificate in Orff Schulwerk Music, with an emphasis in Pedagogy, Movement & World Music. He is currently obtaining a Masters of Music Education from UNLV.
JASON CORPUZ, Hailing from the vibrant city of Las Vegas, Nevada, is a multifaceted musician whose prowess on the piano and keyboard has garnered widespread acclaim. As the Director of Piano Studies at the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts since 2020, Corpuz has played a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of musical talents. Corpuz's musical journey extends beyond the academic realm. He currently serves as the musical director for local Las Vegas entertainers Chadwick Johnson and Jonathan Karrant. As a highly accomplished pianist and keyboardist, he has become an integral part of the award-winning hip-hop band 'The Lique.' The band's dynamic fusion of genres has captivated audiences nationwide, leading to performances at prestigious festivals such as Life is Beautiful, Whole-Earth Festival, and Joshua Tree Music Festival. In addition to his role with 'The Lique,' Corpuz has showcased his versatility by contributing his musical talents to a diverse array of shows. From the timeless allure of Post-Modern Jukebox to the electrifying energy of "Rated Red" and The Ratpack, and the grand spectacles of "Showstoppers," "FTR: Baz," "Vegas! The Show!" and "The Mayfair Supperclub," Corpuz's proficiency in diverse style knows no bounds. Jason, a distinguished alumnus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), graduated with a Bachelor's in Music in Piano Performance. Under the tutelage of esteemed instructors such as Dave Loeb and Timothy Hoft, he honed his craft and developed a deep understanding of musical intricacies.
