Hi! I’m Kaci Carlson, founder of Desert Heart Healing.
I was first drawn to yoga as a teenager during a very difficult time of my life. The way it brought me back into my body gave me my first real experience of full embodiment. I wanted to share that feeling with everyone!!
But it wasn’t until much later, after the birth of my fifth baby, that healing became not just something I practiced, it became my lifeline, my calling.
That postpartum season was extremely difficult! I experienced a traumatic childbirth injury that left me in constant physical pain. I could barely walk without a walker. I felt broken. Not just in my body, but emotionally and mentally. I felt like I wasn't in my body, almost robotic.
This brought me back to my mat. I often say, half joking but fully believing, that Yoga and Jesus saved me. Through gentle movement, breath, prayer, and presence, something began to shift. I wasn’t just healing, I was remembering who I was. Each moment became a release of pain both emotional and physical and a return to myself.
That experience cracked me open. It lit a fire in me to share this kind of healing with others.
As a child, I had a natural ability to read the energy in a room and deeply feel what others carried. I was always barefoot, grounding myself in the earth without even realizing it, and fascinated by my mother’s herbal remedies. I became especially curious about the healing power of plants and essential oils after witnessing how much they supported my younger brother while he was battling cancer. Seeing their impact sparked something in me, a knowing that this kind of natural healing was something I was meant to explore and share!!
That inner knowing stayed with me. I went on to complete 500 hours of training and became a certified Yoga Master. I later became a Reiki Master and felt a deep pull toward other healing modalities, including herbalism, sound healing, mindfulness practices, meditation and visualization, and ecstatic dance. In many ways, these practices didn’t feel new, they felt like a return to what I’ve always known.
This work isn’t just my career, it’s my medicine. I know what it’s like to be in the depths, and I understand how powerful it is to be seen, supported, and reminded that healing is possible. I would love to walk alongside you on your journey, to truly see you, and offer support in the ways that feel most aligned for you.
One of my favorite questions to ask is:
“How’s your heart? Your emotional, physical, and spiritual heart?” Because when we speak and feel from the heart, we open the door to healing, connection, and grace, both for ourselves and others.
That’s why I named this work Desert Heart Healing. It’s a reflection of the place I love and the healing that happens when we lead with heart.♥️
