Derrygonnelly made the breakthrough in adult men's football in 1959 when they won the Senior Football League Division One title.
The Harps had a strong squad of players that season and with the final not played until September 1960, due to Fermanagh's success in the All-Ireland Junior Championship, many expected the Derrygonnelly side to finally make the breakthrough they long had wished for.
In the final, captained by Louis McGullion, Derrygonnelly proved too strong for Aghadrumsee with a 2-04 to 0-03 victory.
The Harps squad printed in the Fermanagh Herald was:
Tony Elliott, John Smyth, Hugh Flanagan, Ernie Ellis, Vincie Dundas, Ray Dundas, Vincie McShea, Joe Smyth, Louis McGullion, Sean Gallagher, Fonsie Maguire, Eamon Flanagan, Liam Elliott, Tommy Flanagan, Paddy Flanagan. Subs: Frank Gaffney and Dudley Marjoran. Other players listed were Dot Corrigan, Tommy Moohan, Ignatius McLoughlin and Seamus Meehan.
