After serving as President of the Periodic Paralysis Association since 2008 and a board member since 1998, Dr. Levitt ended his tenure with PPA in January 2020.
Periodic Paralysis is a group of genetic disorders that causes temporary paralysis “attacks” in those who have the disease. Attacks can be triggered by vigorous exercise and by eating certain foods.
Dr. Levitt was diagnosed with the disease as a child and has devoted much of his spare time learning about how to treat and manage the disease as well as sponsoring research to find a cure.
