Description
This talk will discuss oral erosions and ulcers commonly encountered and confused. Diagnoses will include herpes simplex, erythema multiforme, oral erosive lichen planus, pemphigus vulgaris, and if time permits, Steven’s Johnson Syndrome and Behcet’s disease. A handful of sexually transmitted diseases will also be covered, emphasizing clinical recognition of and first line treatments of syphilis, human papilloma virus, scabies, and molluscum. Finally, therapeutic updates in melanoma, psoriasis, and chronic idiopathic urticaria will be reviewed. For melanoma, PD-1 inhibitors, BRAF inhibitors, MEK inhibitors, and CTLA-4 inhibitors will be explained. For psoriasis, anti-IL 23 and anti-IL 17 biologics as well as apremilast and tofacitinib will be reviewed. Finally, omalizumab for chronic idiopathic urticarial will be discussed.
