Derby loves to fly to the beach. She is careful not to be seen, because some people do not enjoy flying Elephants at the beach!
Derby & Rosalie LOVE cookies & cream icecream, they share dreams about eating icecream together.Sometimes Derby dreams of having WINGS!
Sometimes they get MASSIVE COOKIES & CREAM icecreams! Derby makes herself invisible to everyone except Rosalie!
It was a sunny Saturday in St Heliers—the kind of day where the seagulls squawked too loud, the pavement shimmered, and Rosalie was definitely not in the mood to walk one whole kilometre just for ice cream and chocolate.
“Can’t we drive?” she whined, slumping against the front door in dramatic defeat.
Mum pulled her sunglasses down her nose. “It’s literally ten minutes, Rosie.”
“Ten minutes of suffering,” Rosalie groaned, flopping onto the porch like a melting ice cream.
Derby fluttered onto her shoulder, ears flapping, eyes wide with magic.
“Adventure mode?” she whispered.
Rosalie squinted. “Will there be flying?”
Derby winked. “Only if absolutely necessary.”
Isabella peeked out the door, already wearing her purple UGG boots—even in the heat. “If you don’t walk, you don’t get your Dubai chocolate.”
Rosalie sat bolt upright. “Let’s move.”
The Walk Begins
They set off down the hill, the warm breeze swishing Mum’s floaty dress and making Derby spiral like a mini tornado above the footpath.
Rosalie dragged her feet.
Stomp.
Scuff.
Dramatic sigh.
“Is it 1km uphill both ways or just one?” she moaned.
“It’s literally downhill,” said Isabella, sipping iced water like a queen.
Rosalie glared. “Then why am I already tired?”
Mum pointed to the corner. “That’s 100 metres. Want to count every step?”
“I’d rather ride a llama,” Rosalie muttered.
Halfway Bribes & Bug Attacks
Halfway there, Derby suddenly spun in mid-air. “Bug incoming!” he cried.
A tiny beetle fluttered near Rosalie’s knee.
“Aaaaahhh!” she squealed, flailing wildly and leaping into Mum’s arms.
Mum stumbled. “It’s the size of a sprinkle!”
“I AM A SENSITIVE CREATURE!” Rosalie yelled.
Isabella calmly stepped over the bug. “Still want chocolate?”
Rosalie wiped sweat dramatically off her brow. “Only if it’s Dubai level.”
Sweet Victory
At last, they reached the little dairy near the beach. Rosalie burst through the door like a hero returning from battle.
“I’ll take one scoop of cookies and cream. And a bar of Dubai chocolate. Two, if you love me.”
Mum laughed. “One for the walk back.”
Rosalie took a giant lick of her ice cream and smiled. “You know… that walk was actually kind of epic.”
Derby grinned. “Told you it would be.”
“Yeah,” Rosalie said, holding up her ice cream like a trophy. “All great adventures end in sugar.”
Closing Scene
They sat on a bench by the beach, ice creams melting, the sea glinting, and Derby doing gentle loops above their heads. Rosalie leaned back against Isabella’s shoulder.
