Prof. Amartya Mukherjee, HoD

Prof. Amartya Mukherjee is an M.Tech (NIT Durgapur) , Ph.D. (Pursuing)  from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology  (Kalyani). He is currently the Head of the Department in the department of Computer Science & Engineering (AIML), Computer Science & Business Systems. He has above 14 years of experience of teaching in the field of Computer Science. He has written numerous Books and Research articles in the field of IoT, Embedded application development, Wireless Communication, Smart Systems in various renowned publication houses like IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, Taylor & Francis. His book "Embedded Systems & Robotics with Opensource Tools " is one of the best selling books in embedded application development.   

Research Interests: Flying Ad-Hoc Networks, IoT, Intelligent Systems, 5G and 6G communication, Machine Learning.

Prof. Ayan Kumar Panja

Prof. Ayan Kumar Panja is M.Tech (CU), Ph.D.(Pursuing) from Jadavpur University. He is acting as an Assistant  Professor in CSE(AIML), CSBS. He is an Assistant Professor in the dept. of CSE(AIML), CSBS. He has written several books on WSN, Medical Systems in renowned publication house like Elsevier.

Research Interests: Localization, Machine and Deep Learning, Sensor Networks and Sensor Clouds.

Prof. (Dr.) Swarnendu Ghosh

Dr. Swarnendu Ghosh is an Associate Professor at CSE(AIML), CSBS at the Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. He completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University in 2022. He was also an Erasmus Mundus Doctoral Fellow at the University of Evora, Portugal. Dr. Ghosh specializes in the field of neural networks and deep learning with additional interests in medical imaging, knowledge graph-based approaches, and natural language processing. He has been associated with multiple projects funded by central government organizations such as SERB and RUSA. He has authored books such as “Deep learning models for medical imaging” and published in several top-tier journals and conferences. He has research experience of 9 years and teaching experience of over 2 years.

Prof. (Dr.) Indrajit De

Dr Indrajit De is Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AIML) , CSBS at Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. He is an academically oriented person having been in teaching profession for more than twenty years in leading engineering colleges of West Bengal. During his tenure in these colleges, he had also shouldered several administrative responsibilities like Head of the Department, NBA Coordinator, NAAC coordination team member, Deputy controller of Examination etc. He had a brief experience in industry also of about three years before fully committing himself to teaching. Dr De has completed his B.Tech from Calcutta University and subsequently completed his M.Tech in Information Technology and Ph.D(Engineering) in Computer Science and Technology from IIEST, Shibpur, India. Dr De is currently the elected Vice Chair of Internet Society Kolkata Chapter as well as advisor of India Internet Foundation(IIFON) which is a flagship organization promoting awareness related to Internet protocol standards in community. Also, he has many authored publications in major international journals, conferences and edited books. He has been reviewing some major journal articles in publications like Applied Soft Computing, Machine Vision and Applications, IEEE Access etc for many years. He has also contributed as one of the founder coordinators in IICB – a flagship Internet standards awareness building project in India funded by Internet Society, Kolkata Chapter and approved by MeitY(earlier DeitY), Govt, of India. Moreover he has completed three consultancy projects from RABT Technologies, MHRD etc. He has visited as well actively participated in premier conferences like IETF 94, 103, INSIG and ISOC – APAC Chapter meetings as invited fellow many a times across different parts of the World. He is a GATE scholar and recipient of several awards and scholarships.

Prof. (Dr.) Piyali Datta 

Dr. Piyali Datta has received her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from University of Calcutta in 2022. Before that she completed her M.Tech. and B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering in 2015 and 2013, respectively, from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. She qualified GATE exam in 2013 and UGC-CBSC NET for lectureship in 2018. She has 8 years of teaching experience.

Her current research interests include Microfluidics, Algorithms, VLSI design, Computer Vision, and Machine learning. She has proposed several CoDesign algorithms for different platforms of microfluidic biochips. She has published research articles in 10 SCI indexed journals and more than 25 International conference proceedings. She presented papers in 12 International conferences.

She has achieved 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo – a Korean martial art and participated in state, national, and international level tournaments.

Prof. (Dr.) Deepsubhra Guha Roy 

Dr. Deepsubhra Guha Roy is currently working as Associate Professor at department of CSE(AIML), IEM, Kolkata. Prior to that he served as Assistant Professor Senior Grade of School of Computer Science and Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, India. He has completed his second Post-Doc from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore as an Institutional IoE Post Doctoral Research Fellow and completed his first post-doctoral research at the Mobile & Cloud Lab of the Institute of Computer Science at the University of Tartu, Estonia, Europe in RADON H2020 Project, in collaboration with Imperial College of London, UK. He is the founder developer of the Centre of Mobile Cloud Computing in Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal, India. He did his Ph.D. and M.Tech. from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal, India. His current research interests include Mobile Cloud Computing, IoT Architecture, IoT Security, Blockchain Customization, Serverless Computing, Data Orchestration, Cloud Service Template Design, and Data Pipeline with DevOps. One of his research inventions is covered by several media houses like (Indian Express, Ajkal, DW, ETV, RPlus, TNI-B, TNI-E Etc.). He has published fourteen (14) highly reputed SCI international journal papers and eighteen (18) international conference papers and ten (10) book chapters, in a total of 42 publications. He has received the International Research Leadership Award as Best Researcher of the year on the Internet of Things-2020 by the World Research Council and other national awards. He is an Associate Editor of the IET Software journal and Lead Guest Editor of a SI in Elsevier IoT Journal, Elsevier Computer Communications, and many more.

Prof. (Dr.) Tanima Bhowmik

Dr. Tanima Bhowmik completed her B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, and M.Tech in Microelectronics & VLSI Design from Jadavpur University. She is submitted her Ph.D. from IIEST, Shibpur in Efficient energy management in WSN assisted IoT. She has published 14 research papers in international conferences and 3 research articles in international journals and communicated one article in an international journal. He has above 15 years of experience of teaching. She is Senior Member of IEEE (Membership ID: 95250492), treasurer of WIE Kolkata Section 2023, ACM member (7654354). Actively participate in different outreach IEEE programs and WIE programs as an ex-com member, also nominated as Ambassador in PBL camp by IEEE, Kolkata section.

Prof. Sukanya Mitra

Prof. Sukanya Mitra is an Associate Professor at CSE (AIML), CSBS at the Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. She has submitted her Ph.D. thesis in the Department of Electrical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Durgapur (NITD). She completed M.Tech in the Department of Applied Physics of University of Calcutta and B.Tech in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering of MAKAUT (formerly WBUT) in 2012 and 2010, respectively. She was a CSIR SRF-Direct Fellowship awardee during her Ph.D thesis. Ms. Mitra specializes in developing Deep Learning Models with additional interests in machine condition monitoring, advanced signal processing techniques, and image processing. She has published her research interests in several top-tier journals and conferences.  She has more than 12 years experience including teaching, research, and industry.

Research Interests:  Intelligent Systems, Machine Learning, Predictive Maintenance, Signal Processing.

Prof. (Dr.) Mousumi Laha

Dr. Mousumi Laha received her B.Tech. degree in electronics and tele-communication engineering from the Camellia Institute of Technology, Kolkata, India, in 2011, and the M.Tech. degree in Intelligent Automation and Robotics (IAR) from the Department of Electronics and Tele-Communication Engineering, Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in 2014. She received the Ph.D. degree in cognitive intelligence on the topic of ‘‘Biological underpinning of Sensory Perception using Brain Signals and Topographic Maps,’’ in 2022. She is pursuing the postdoctoral research in cognitive neuroscience and neuromorphic computing on the topic entitled "Development of a Neuromorphic Computing System for Precise Motion Control of an EEG-based Artificial Robotic Limb for Rehabilitative Applications", under a U.K.–India Collaborative Research Program, funded by Liverpool Hope University, Liverpool, U.K. She is currently joined as an Assistant Professor in the Department of CSE (AIML), Institute of Engineering and management (IEM) Kolkata. She has published 3 high quality IEEE Transaction papers and 20 conference papers, mostly published in IEEE flagship conferences including World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI) and Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (SSCI). 

 

 

Research Interests: Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI), Cognitive neuroscience, Deep Learning, Type-2 Fuzzy Set & Logic and Neuromorphic Computing.

Prof. (Dr.) Nirmal Das

Dr. Nirmal Das, is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AIML), CSBS, Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata. He received his BTech in Computer Science and Engineering from WBUT in 2012 and MTech in Computer Technology from Jadavpur University in 2016. Currently he is pursuing PhD in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Jadavpur University. His research area includes ‘Digital Topology and Geometry’ and ‘Machine learning and Artificial Intelligence’ with its application in Medical Image Analysis. He was awarded CSIR SRF DIRECT Fellowship for the tenure May2018-May2021, by CSIR HRDG, Govt. of India. He published his research work in five SCI-indexed Journals and several International conferences (two of them received best paper award). The paper titled “Quantitative 3-D morphometric analysis of individual dendritic spines” co-authored Prof. Nirmal Das was published in Scientific Reports, Nature Publicationsin 2018.Recently their team developed 3dSpAn tool (www.3dspan.org) under the supervision of Prof. Subhadip Basu, in collaboration with Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Poland and Hanover Medical School, Germany. 3dSpAn is popular in Neuroimaging research community. The manuscript for 3dSpAn tool titled ”An interactive software for 3D segmentation and analysis of dendriticspines” has been published in Neuroinformatics, Springer, which is a pioneer journal for neuroscience research.

Prof. Subhadip Chandra

Prof. Subhadip Chandra is M.Tech. (JU), Ph.D.(Pursuing) from Invertis University (Uttar Pradesh). He has above 14 years of experience in teaching in the Computer Science domain. Presently he is acting as an Assistant Professor in CSE(AIML), CSBS. He has above 14 years of experience in teaching in the Computer Science domain.

Prof. Pabak Indu

Prof. Pabak Indu has done his M.E. in Computer Science And Engineering and B.E. in Information technology from the University Institute of Technology, Burdwan. He has above 7 years of experience in teaching in the Computer Science domain. Presently he is acting as an Assistant Professor in CSE(AIML), CSBS.

Prof. Bipasha Mahato 

Prof. Bipasha Mahato is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AIML), CSBS, Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata, India. She did her M. Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology, West Bengal in 2017 and B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from TICT, Rajarhat in 2015. She has experience as Junior Project Assistant in Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, sponsored project from IIT, KGP; has 2 years of experience as Contractual Faculty in the department of Information Technology, at Maulana Abul Kalam University of Technology, WB and 6 months of experience as Guest Faculty under the school of Computational Science, at Maulana Abul Kalam University of Technology, WB. Currently she is doing her PhD in the field of Computer Science and Engineering. Her current research interests include Mobile Cloud Computing, Internet of Things, Bandwidth Optimization and Generative AI. She has co-authored in several research papers in reputed international journals and international conference proceedings. Prof. Sreya Ghosh 

Prof. Sreya Ghosh  is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AIML), CSBS, Institute of Engineering & Management, Kolkata. She has done her BTech from WBUT in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering in 2012 and M.E. in Wireless Communication from BIT Mesra in 2015. She has joined Jadavpur University as Research Fellow under the project granted by TEQIP-II scheme and also appointed as UPE fellow under UGC. Presently she is pursuing PhD in the Department of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Jadavpur University. She was awarded CSIR SRF DIRECT Fellowship for the tenure September 2018-September 2021, by CSIR HRDG, Govt. of India. She has published SCI-indexed journals and several International conference papers. 

Research Interests: AI/ML based solutions for Intelligent Transportation systems, Bio-inspired algorithms, Wireless Sensor Networks.  

Prof. Ankita Ray Chowdhury

Prof. Ankita Ray Chowdhury is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AIML) at the Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. She received her B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Department from WBUT in 2012 and completed her M.Tech in Wireless Communication and Networking from Gautam Buddha University in 2015. Currently she is pursuing PhD in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department from IIEST, Shibpur. She qualified GATE exam in 2013 and UGC-NET for lectureship in 2014 in the Electronics discipline. She has four (4) years of teaching experience in Electronics and Communication domain. Apart from teaching she had contributed equally in various administrative responsibility like NBA coordinator, NAAC coordination team member, member of exam controller etc. She also has four (4) years of research experience and during that time she worked in a project titled “Underground Coal Mine Monitoring System”, funded by IBM Global University Program Academic Award, 2020. She published a patent on “Smart Underground Mine Monitoring System” in 2023. Ms. Ankita received best paper award in International Conference on Energy Systems, Drives and Automations Conference, 2021 and secured the first position in prototype design competition at IEEE WIE Hackathon, 2023. Apart from this she published different research articles in SCOPUS and SCI indexed journals and international conferences. 

  

Research Interests: Wireless Communication in Robust Application Area, Navigation and Positioning in GPS denied area, Industrial Internet of Things, Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN), Visible Light Communication (VLC) Technology.

Prof. Somenath Kuiry

Prof. Somenath Kuiry is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (AIML) at the Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata. He is also pursuing his Ph.D. at Jadavpur University, focusing his research on Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning with a specialization in Uncertainty Quantification of Segmentation Models. Previously, he served as an INSPIRE (DST) research fellow and scholar. He earned his Master's Degree in Mathematics and Computing from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati in 2016, following a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from Sidho Kanho Birsha University in 2014. He has successfully cleared exams including NET-JRF (2016), NET-LS (2015), WBSET (2019), and GATE (2016, 2017). His additional research interests encompass Quantum Computing and Applied Mathematics. He possesses expertise in Deep Learning Frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow), Programming Languages (C, C++, Python, Matlab, R, Mathematica), Mathematics (Applied and Pure), and Statistics.
