About Us

The Department of Zoology was established in the year 1971. The department is furnished with a good range of research journals, academic textbooks and lab equipment. They are utilized for the curricular practicals and research activities by the students as well as the faculty members. Our faculty members are specialized in Entomology, Parasitology, Cytogenetics, Molecular Biology, Fisheries etc. The faculty members continuously engage themselves in academic achievements of students.

Separate laboratories are available for B.Sc students alongwith a museum. Practicals related to Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Endocrinology, Fisheries, Entomology and Biochemistry are done in the labs. Our Department has added projectors, computers, wi-fi, LAN, smart boards over the years to help students learn by different methodologies. The department aims to:

• lay a solid foundation of basic principles and processes in biology

• encourage critical thinking and conceptual skills that come from an understanding

• strengthen practical knowledge of the students by imparting necessary skills

• develop an aptitude for research
