This is the optimized scan path that we have found to work best for us. The occlusion has the most amount of information for the scanner to take in. The lingual will be the most prone to capturing soft tissue from the cheek. Going to the buccal last will clean up soft tissue, creating a finished scan.
This is a universal need in the world of scanning. The scanner takes in the information that is present before it. Software can only do so much to clean up soft tissue that got captured, the user is responsible for proper retraction technique for a good scan.

Medit allows almost full control for the user when it comes to their scanning path. A big factor that plays into the customization of the i500 is with the scanning depth control.
We have found that a higher depth works well when scanning the Maxilla while lowering the depth is favorable working the Mandible. The Mandibular arch comes with the base of the cheek along with the tongue. The extra soft tissue that is required to be retracted can be daunting especially for new users.
The base wire of the scanner.
Please allow the natural position of the scanner, as we have seen some users apply too much force bending it and that will allow the scanner to become prone to connectivity issues later in it's lifetime.
System requirements for the i700 scanner
The following system requirements are recommended for the PC to use the i700 intraoral scanner with Medit Scan for Clinics, the image acquisition software. Check if your system meets the recommended system requirements.
⚠︎ It is highly recommended to dedicate one PC solely for the i700 because other programs that run hidden in the background may affect the overall scanning performance.
❏ Recommended System Requirements
- Laptop
CPU: Intel Core i7-11800H or AMD Ryzen 7 5800H / Ryzen 9 5900H
RAM: 32 GB
Graphic: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070/2080/3070/3080/3090 Above 8GB (Not supporting Radeon)
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, Windows 11 Pro 64-bit
- Desktop

💡 Internet speed requirement for Medit Link
We do not have a set minimum speed requirement as there are external factors that can affect the network speed. As a general rule, the Medit Link application connected to your network should have a stable network connection of 5Mbps (both upload and download) at minimum. However, to ensure a smooth upload and download of large scan data, at least 25Mbps is required.

One of the most useful things we have found to use with scanning specifically on a laptop is a wireless mouse. The controls on the Medit Link allow the user to move, spin, zoom within the controls of a traditional mouse.
