Mrs. P. is a reformed English teacher turned librarian. She obtained her MLIS (Masters in Library and Information Science) from the University of South Carolina in 2024. Prior to that, she received her MAT (Master of the Arts in Teaching) and BA (Bachelor of the Arts) in English, also from USC. (If it's not obvious from her resume, she is a Gamecock fan. Tiger fans can rest assured, however: she was born in Clemson.)
Mrs. P. has spent her life discovering and sharing her belief in the power of literacy and education to build a better life and a better world. The move from classroom to library was inevitable: she is passionate about supporting the entire school community in our quest for information and understanding--and that passion can no longer be contained to a single (and single-subject) classroom!
You can soon read more about her adventures in libraries and learning on her blog.
Student volunteers may earn volunteer service hours for their time in the library. Volunteer service requirements vary by club or organization; please speak with your club/organization sponsor for more information. If you are interested in volunteering--for credit or out of the simple goodness of your heart--please contact us directly the next time you stop in or by email at spellerin@richland2.org.
Parent volunteers are always welcome to support everyday operations, regular programming, and special events. All parent volunteers must submit to a SLED background check. Please contact us directly by phone (803-699-2750 ext. 72030) or by email (spellerin@richland2.org) to begin the paperwork process. We look forward to working with you and appreciate your support!
