Denisovans had robust features similar to Neanderthals, including thick skull bones, large teeth (especially molars), and a wide dental arch. Fossil evidence like the Xiahe jawbone and Harbin cranium suggests a flat face, prominent brow ridges, and a long, low braincase—traits adapted to cold climates and high altitudes.
Denisovans are a sister group to Neanderthals, both branching from a common ancestor shared with modern humans about 600,000 years ago.
