Pixon is an educational software that I used to get students to create stories, explain concepts or theories. See student examples below and a comic strip I created to explain critical thinking skills (PhD research)

This is an example of the use of Canva to create a poster.

Task: create a poster about you. The students found the software very easy to use with lots of free images etc available without the need to purchase them.

I used Padlet for quick summaries or to hear how students were feeling. The students responded very well to this. This was used in a number of ways:

  1. Feelings about a particular topic

  2. Inspiring quotes

  3. Advice for other students

  4. Endings: Virtual gifts to their peers

'I felt my confidence improve immensely as the module continued'

Negative 'No motivation as it’s all online' & 'I don’t concentrate as much as I would if we were on campus I get distracted easily'

Sketch.io

This sketch software was an excellent way to engage students in drawing online.

The 'Mirror brush' function was particularly good as the results were impressive.

The 'Clip art' function also allowed the art to be a fun activity. The 'load your own image' was also used very well by the students.
