Our Research
We combine anatomical, functional, and molecular approaches to unravel the brain circuits governing appetite and metabolism. Using anterograde and retrograde tracers, we map neuronal projections and identify key circuit nodes. Chemogenetic and optogenetic tools allow us to interrogate defined neuronal populations in vivo, while calcium imaging captures their activity dynamics during behaviour. We integrate machine learning to analyse feeding patterns and link them to circuit function. To understand how obesity and pharmacological interventions reshape these pathways, we employ transcriptomic and protein analyses that reveal novel cell populations and molecular signatures. Together, these approaches define how the brain orchestrates appetite regulation.
