We are an animal sanctuary so it'll be a once in a blue moon occassion that you see us adopting out animals.
We don't generally do adoptions due to safety reasons. The animal's wellbeing always comes first, tossing an animal from home to home if not in their best interest or in ours.
If you're interested in adopting a companion animal, good for you. So you can see it through, be sure to follow our top tips:
Avoid breeders and pet stores. I mean if you're reading this, I'm sure you already know better, but some breeders can be sneaky by saying "Up for adoption" or "Rehoming". To avoid those traps, pay attention to how many animals the adoptee says they have and what their price is. The highest dog adoption fee is around $500 and the highest cat adoption fee is $50-$100, if you're seeing prices of dogs and cats that are higher than those numbers, look out, they're most likely a breeder. As for more exotic animals it can be more difficult to tell, so you'll want to do some background checks or go straight to a rescue like Bairds Nest, Wild Whiskers, or Budgie Sanctuary Rescue.
Avoid fake rescues. Sadly the reason why some people are brainwashed into buying is because there are fake rescues that only pretend to care for animals for the cash, such as No Place like Home, a fake dog rescue in Michigan with the sole interest in spreading evil propaganda about pitbull breeds. To avoid a fake rescue, look at the background history of a rescue, look at the reviews. Also pay close attention to reviews as well and make sure they're genuine, (There are terrorists who will make fake accounts and even hack into legit rescue pages to post fake negative reviews). Look at the environment of the rescue as well, do most of the animals look well kept or are improving from past abuse? Do the humans running the operation seem happy with their work saving the animals? Behavior is very important to examine.
