 THE PATH TO FREEDOM

Based on the information about another country's Path to Freedom, students wrote a 1-page story for children and translated it into their mother tongue.

Stories of a different country have been read and worked on by the youngest children-(pre)primary, who will illustrate the stories. The best illustrations have been chosen by means of a class vote simulating a real voting situation. This has raised awareness to active citizenship at a very young age.

The ebook, has been  finalised by Danish students.

The Danish and Polish  partners, being secondary schools, have interacted with primary schools from the community (associated partners) to carry out activities directed at younger children.

BE ACTIVE FOR DEMEUCRACY

In all partner schools, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) has been worked on. Pupils from all ages, using different tools and techniques, have created bookmarks with the 30 articles of the UDHR. To foster active citizenship, the best markers have been chosen (class vote) and sent to other partner schools by post. In each school there has been a mural on which the huge variety of bookmarkers has been displayed. This has opened minds to the diversity of human beings around the World and to the fact that that many people are discriminated because of being “different”.

BE ACTIVE FOR DEMEUCRACY

Younger pupils have searched for songs with an important role in their country’s Path to Freedom. In their music classes they sang the songs and films were made. Theyl worked on a short explanation of the importance of that song. Films, audios, lyrics and explanations have been posted on TS. Secondary students have translated everything into English (TS).

BE ACTIVE FOR DEMEUCRACY

Secondary pupils have been working on films based on real stories of people who were victims of discrimination and violation of human rights (racial discrimination and slavery, transgender, women's and children's rights, disabilities, women’s right to vote). Students have watched the film and, in class, they created a handout with activities and also thought about a topic for discussion.

Students from all countries watch the 5 films to know the topics to be debated in Portugal.

These are our films for DemEUcracy:

12 Years Slave - Portugal

The Danish Girl - Denmark

Difret - Poland

La Famille Bélier - Serbia

Robin Hood - Italy

  Role Models defending Human Rights

In all schools, pupils in different classes, levels, sectors and subjects have studied about young role models, who are active in areas such as civil rights, encouragement to vote, compulsory use of the hijab, right to education for girls, child marriage, child slavery, children in war scenarios, racism and LGBT rights. Digital Posters of the role models have been shared.
Each partner school has chosen one role model that is representatuve of their country.
Posters were exposed at the entrance of the school to motivate pupils to be active Agents of Change.

          LET'S BE AGENTS OF CHANGE

If I were in your shoes

(Pre)Primary children have played  a game in which they experience how it is to have a disability (being blind or communicate without speaking or doing things with only one hand). They have made drawings of this experience. This has developed their empathy towards children with disabilities and promote their sense of inclusion. Drawings from all partner schools are posted on TS. The twelve most voted drawings will be included in a calendar created by Serbia.

LET'S BE AGENTS OF CHANGE

Solidarity Campaigns in European schools

Sec. students, to follow the example of the Role Models, have carried out a solidarity action in institutions for people in need in their communities. This will prepare participating students for the activities in Serbia. Integrated in partner schools’ activities, students have made contacts, defined a plan, made a campaign and implemented an action of solidarity. A short film of each activity was filmed and is shared on TS. The Serbian partner translates the films into Serbian sign language.

POLITICS IN OUR HANDS

Tree of beautiful words

Primary school children, with the help of secondary school students, have made drawings: colourful hearts  that remind kindness, friendship, equality and respect of diversity and have send them to each partner school to make the Tree of Beautiful Words
