The following .gif files display the evolution of the decomposed Z500 flow (shading) and total Z500 flow (contours) from 10 days before onset to onset for blocking events over the Atlantic, Europe, Asia, and the North Pacific. Top panels display the high-frequency, middle panels display the intermediate- frequency, and the bottom panels display the low-frequency components of the flow.
