Online disk firmware upgrades (ODFU) are typically non-disruptive and do not require downtime or SP reboots. When performing the upgrade via the GUI, the system will let you know if there will be any disruption or not in the "summary" section of the upgrade wizard. You will have the opportunity to cancel the upgrade at this point if you do not wish to move forward.

Once the version has been identified, go to support.dell.com website and download the latest available software. Generally you may also find the updated firmware for the installed drives. Download both and check the compatibility matrix to ensure a direct upgrade to the desired version is actually supported.

From Settings area, access the Drive Firmware section and click Upgrade Drive Firmware. In the example the installed firmware version is ESF8.

You can perform this upgrade from any firmware revision starting with version 1.11.11. If the active firmware is older than 1.11.11, you must first upgrade to 1.11.11 before you perform the upgrade. To help ensure the availability of systems and data, PS Series arrays come standard with group event notification methods (e-mail, syslog, and SNMP), but also allow administrators to enable e-mail home functionality. E-mail home can automatically contact EqualLogic customer support if a hardware component such as a disk, control module, fan tray, or power supply fails, or if the firmware on a PS Series array is updated. E-mail home functionality enables EqualLogic to rapidly respond to issues and assist administrators.

I am trying to add SNMP alerting to EMC unity. Have configured both v2c and v3. The Solarwinds doesnt pick it up so failinig to dd the node. Does one need SRM for this to work? I tried SNMPwalk but that also did not produce any results. The EMC site has MIBs, though it looks like Solarwinds doesnt allow you to just add the MIB? e24fc04721
