Our Vision
The University is envisioned to evolve as a center for excellence in teacher education at both pre-service and in-service stages across the school levels, and in the areas of education studies, leadership and policy. It will work towards bridging the gap between practice, research and policy in teacher education while constantly engaging with the dynamic concepts and realities of quality in education in the city of Delhi.
The new vision for school education system in Delhi will sustain for a longer time with the recognition of teachers as skilled professionals, who can constantly engage in generating innovative practices of teaching and learning methods. Students across schools need strong academic foundations, cultural and global competencies, strong social emotional competencies (ability to collaborate, communicate, and solve problems) to productively engage in our democracy and compete in the global economy. DTU aims to prepare all aspiring teachers to be efficient enough to inculcate these aforementioned abilities in each and every school student they meet future.
For this, more than theoretical knowledge, Delhi Teachers University’s main focus is on developing field experiences of students and to help them learn in original settings of government schools. Education programs at DTU will have integration of the professional teacher education and liberal education. As being set up in the era of digital learning, University will also focus on developing online teaching skills exclusively in all aspiring teachers through its programs.
Students will be provided international exposure through education seminars and conferences and will have an opportunity to engage with best teachers, teaching experts, academicians, researchers in field of education from all across the globe. This will help them enhance their knowledge and perspectives towards global education systems and learn from them.
University also aims to promote fundamental and applied researches in field of education and help experts develop unique teaching experiences, practices, innovative curriculum, and pedagogic strategies to uplift the teaching and education community.
Central to all its efforts, University’s main aim is to develop a force of quality educators across different school stages as envisaged in National Education Policy 2020, who can think of innovations in field of teaching and learning in any situation.
Our Objectives
At the Delhi Teachers University, we are striving to:
Provide quality initial teacher preparation (pre-service) programmes across different school stages in Delhi;
Provide ongoing need based in-service programmes for practicing teachers of Delhi;
Enhance the individual and institutional capacities in the education system in Delhi by preparing change leaders for various levels;
Conduct fundamental and applied research focusing on learning, curriculum, pedagogy, school leadership, education policy and planning for Delhi;
Resource development in the areas of curriculum and pedagogy to meet the requirements of public school system in the city;
Institute a culture of dialogue on education in Delhi by hosting sustained forums that bring together different constituents of education;
Establish national and international collaboration networks for exchange of ideas and practices; 8. Function as an interface between schools, teachers and higher education.
Delhi Teachers University inaugurated by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia:
"It gives me great pleasure to inaugurate the 'Delhi Teachers University.' This is Delhi's first of its kind university that aims to prepare well-trained and highly qualified teachers. The university will offer a new age, Integrated Teacher Education Programme after Class 12. It will also emphasize on fundamental and applied research in education by collaborating with national and international organizations."
Delhi Teachers University Celebrates 76th Independence Day on 15th August 2022
आज़ादी के 75वें अमतृ महोत्सव के उपलक्ष्य में ‘दिल्ली शिक्षक विश्वविद्यालय’ एवं हिंदी अकादमी के संयुक्त तत्वावधान में एक हिंदी काव्य संध्या स्त्री स्वातंत्र्य स्वर (काव्य पाठ) का आयोजन विश्वविद्यालय के ‘’अभिव्यक्ति सभागार’’ में हुआ ।
इस अवसर पर मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में माननीय उप मुख्यमंत्री एवं शिक्षा मंत्री दिल्ली सरकार श्री मनीष सिसोदिया जी ने विधिवत ‘’अभिव्यक्ति सभागार’’ का उद्घाटन किया। अपने गंतव्य में उन्होंने कहा कि यह शिक्षक विश्वविद्यालय शिक्षा में नये कीर्तिमान स्थापित करेगा और यहां महज डिग्रियां ही नहीं बांटी जायेगी बल्कि समग्र विकास पर ज़ोर दिया जायेगा।
इस अवसर पर दिल्ली शिक्षक विश्वविद्यालय के कुलपति प्रो. जोशी ने कहा कि हमारा प्रयास है कि हम समाज के हर वर्ग को जोड़ें और खास तौर पर हमारे परिसर के निकट बसी हुई एक स्लम बस्ती (जेजे क्लस्टर) जहाँ पर कई बहुमुखी प्रतिभाएं हैं जिन्हें हम इस विश्वविद्यालय के माध्यम से विकसित करना चाहते हैं।
Delhi Teachers University meets with RAND Corporation, USA:
A meeting was held between the Delhi Teachers University and RAND Corporation, one of the world's leading research think-tanks, on 5th July 2022. The meeting agenda was to identify possible avenues of collaboration to uplift the teaching profession in India.
Delhi Teachers University(DTU) felicitated the Japanese delegation and organized workshop:
A workshop on 'Happiness, Anger Management and Mental Wellness' for our staff members has been organized by the Japanese 'Healing Science' team based on Buddhist philosophy on the campus of Delhi Teachers University.(Happy Science promoted by Ryuho Okawa).
The team was led by Dr. Kota Naguchi, Mr. Masaki Ni and Mr. Satoshi and other team members.
Delhi Teachers University felicitated the Japanese delegation and it was a wonderful experience for us.
We are especially grateful to Shri Nityanand Tiwari Ji (Eminent Writer and Poet Coordinator Abhimanch Society) as well as Dr. Umesh Pathak (Media Personality, Teacher, Poet, Anchor and Singer) for gracing the occasion.
Delhi Teachers University celebrated International Yoga Day:
On 21st June, 2022, Delhi Teachers University celebrated International Yoga Day to spread awareness about the numerous benefits of practising yoga, mindfulness and meditation.
We would like to thank Prof. B. N. Mishra from Netaji Subhash University of Technology (NSUT), who graced us with his presence as the Guest of Honour, and shared some valuable words of wisdom.
Amongst other distinguished guests, Mr Sunil Kumar, member of the Indian men's Kabaddi team, led a yoga practice session for DTU staff and other attendees.
Yoga plays a key role in promoting a healthy lifestyle, creating awareness of the self, and increasing mental clarity and concentration - traits that are key for students and teachers alike. DTU remains dedicated towards promoting the holistic development of all individuals, and the practice of yoga lies at the crux of this goal.
Delhi Teachers University meets with delegation from University of Birmingham, UK
The senior management of the Delhi Teachers University welcomed a delegation from the University of Birmingham, UK, on 8th May, 2022. The delegation included Prof. Robin Mason, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (International) and Mr. Dipankar Choudhary, Country Director (India). The meeting was also attended by Mr. Vikram Bhat, Advisor to the Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister of GNCT of Delhi.
Discussions were held around the possibility of a partnership between the two universities to enhance the quality Teacher Education and Training in Delhi.
