Now that we are official and have received the Certificate of Recognition the real work begins! As a Firewise USA Community we have the following obligations in regards to tracking time and expense:
Invest a minimum of $2.00 per capita annually in Firewise projects in your neighborhood. This is NOT a cash investment -- hours worked by volunteers on clearing roadsides, creating defensible space, etc. have a dollar value -- currently about $24/hour -- you can track and count toward the requirement.
Report annually online to Firewise Communities/USA to document continuing compliance with the program. It's an easy process to fill in the blanks regarding your neighborhood activities, hours spent, etc.
Margaret Baker has stepped forward to tabulate the time and expenses on a twice a year basis and submit them to Firewise USA on November 15, 2025. These time and expense reports are critically helpful when applying for grants.
We will be asking residents to try their best to capture all you are doing at home and in the community for fire preparedness. Below you will find tools to assist you in understanding what qualifies and documents to log information daily and quarterly.
Due dates for 2025 are as follows:
June 15, 2025 (Covering November 15, 2024 - June 14, 2025)
October 1 , 2025 (Covering June 15 - any known work through November 14, 2025)
IF YOU HAVE NOT TURNED IN A FIREWISE USA VOLUNTEER HOURLY WORK SHEET YET YOU CAN COMPLETE ONE FOR THE ENTIRE TIME PERIOD.
Compile your daily work into the Firewise USA Volunteer Hourly Work Sheet and email/drop off to your Area Representative.

6 month Report - We will need all households to summarize your daily activities and either email or send to the Area Reps. Reports will be gathered on June 1 and Nov 1, 2024. This document can either be downloaded and figures entered online or print the document and fill out by hand.
We are including a Daily Tracker document below. Hang in an easily accessible place and capture the hours as you complete them. Transfer them to the quarterly form prior to submitting.
