I am currently working as Ph.D. student with Prof. Lolitika Mandal at IISER Mohali. My broad research area is to explore how Metabolic and molecular cues affect the maintenance and division of Hematopoietic Stem cells in Drosophila melanogaster.
Drosophila melanogaster provides an amenable model system to study basic cell biology in both developmental and diseases perspective. Drosophilist have created a plethora of genetic tools and techniques to better study the cellular fundamentals in in vivo or ex vivo scenario. In our lab, I practice basic reverse genetics, employing some of the genetic tools such as GAL4-UAS system, TARGET, G-TRACE, and others to address the basic cell biology questions.
I am trying to understand how Metabolic and molecular cues regulate the maintenance and division of Drosophila blood stem cells.
