Coach Matt has been a member of the Clippers organization as a swimmer from 2001-2011 and coach since 2011 to today. Matt started his swimming career with the Clippers in the summer season and swam every season until he graduated from high school in 2011. After graduating, Matt moved into a coaching role with the team and has coached every age group from 8&Unders to 15-18s. Today, Coach Matt is our head coach. His primary responsibilities are to correspond with the league, other teams/coaches, and ensure the meets run smoothly. He also oversees the age group coaches and assistants. As a Clipper, Matt loved to swim the 50 Free and 100 IM. He is also proud to be a part of the 2010 15-18 200 yard Free Relay team that holds the record in that age group.
Lisa has been a member of the Dedham Clippers family since 2006 when her oldest son Jack walked in the door & started swimming with them. Her youngest son, Jeff, joined the Clipper team a few years later. He holds Clipper records still - and has spent time coaching the Clippers. Lisa has been the Clippers Team Manager for the last 15 years - managing everything Clipper related - from emails to photos to ice cream parties to producing the team video. She prides herself on making sure everyone has fun and that everyone feels welcome. Her kids had the greatest time on the team with lots of great memories. Lisa hopes to pass that along to everyone who joins us. Although Lisa is involved with many Parks and Recreation (and Town related) projects & events, the Dedham Clippers holds the biggest spot in her heart. Lisa has an accounting degree from Northeastern University and works full time as an Client Controller. She has lived in Dedham for 28 years.
Juliette is the Head Coach of the 8 and under swimmers. She began swimming in 8th grade with Coach Kathy Megan! She swam 5 years on DHS varsity swim team.
Juliette swam for Saint Joe's were she was a NCAA qualifier & has 15 Saint Joe's varsity records - as well as
being the title holder of the most individual point scorer in school history! She was also in the 1st class of inductees into the university of Saint Joseph Hall of Fame.
Her passion for aquatics began when she was a very young girl with her father. The pool has a very special place in her heart, like a second home. She has been coaching Dedham high school swim (15+ years) and Dedham recreation swim teams (3rd year) and it’s really incredible to see how our programs have flourished.
One of the most rewarding jobs is to be able to coach your own child in the sport you love. Her son Shea has been swimming competitively now for three years and It truly is a blessing to watch him flourish as a swimmer, and to be able to grow within the sport, we hold so close to our hearts.
Her passion is stroke technique, and stroke mechanics. She wants every child that steps into our pool to feel welcome & supported and learn to love the sport as much as her family does!
Coach Kathy Megan brings decades of experience, dedication, and a deep love for swimming to the Dedham Clippers! Kathy’s journey in the water began back in high school when she joined her first swim team (proof that it’s never too late to dive in!) and soon after earned her WSI certification to begin coaching and teaching lessons. She went on to swim Division III for all four years at Bridgewater State College, specializing in both sprint and distance freestyle. At BSC, she also discovered a passion for water polo, where she combined her swim and softball skills and played for three seasons with the BSC team. During her college summers, Kathy coached the Summer Clippers, and in 1997, she took the helm as Head Coach for Dedham High School Swimming and Diving. Since 1994, she has also coached the Winter Clippers’ 8 & Under Age Group on and off, inspiring Dedham’s youngest swimmers to build strong skills and confidence in the pool.
In addition to coaching, Kathy is a Special Education Teacher at Dedham High School. She also steps in to teach adult swim lessons when needed (with even Manager Lisa joining her class recently!). Every summer, you’ll find Kathy at Camp Wanocksett in Dublin, NH, guiding Scouts through the Swimming Merit Badge on the waterfront.
A proud Dedham resident, Kathy lives with her husband, Dan, a teacher at Dedham Middle School, and their two children, Paul and Mary Kate—both Clippers alumni and former and current varsity swimmers for DHS. Paul is now a freshman at UMass Amherst, and Mary Kate is a junior at DHS. Coach Kathy is thrilled to continue fostering a fun, supportive, and enriching environment for the Clippers team!
Caitlin Unger is the head coach for the 9-10 age group. This marks her fourth winter season coaching the Clippers, and she also coaches the summer season and off-season stroke clinics. Caitlin grew up swimming and swam at the University of Vermont, along with her husband, Jeremy. You might recognize her three daughters at the pool: Sophia, a freshman at DHS; Madeline, a 7th grader at DMS; and Isla, a 4th grader at Riverdale. Inspired by her daughters and the Clippers, she returned to swimming in recent years and has participated in US Masters meets alongside Coach Juliette and the newly established US Masters Clippers Team. (We are always looking for more members!) In the 9-10 age group, mastering technique is crucial for faster swimming, and Caitlin takes great joy in witnessing her swimmers' progress.
