On 26th December 2022, we lost our dear friend Declan to a sudden cardiac arrest.
Just days before, we had spent an evening together — sharing curry, a few beers, and plenty of laughs. Like always, the conversation drifted to old memories, plans, and everything we still wanted to do. It was a simple night, but one that has come to mean everything to us.
Declan was someone who brought people together. He had a natural way of making everyone feel included, valued, and part of something bigger. Whether through rugby or everyday life, he built friendships that lasted and created a sense of community wherever he went.
In the time after losing him, we knew we wanted to do something that reflected who he was and what he stood for — something positive that could carry his spirit forward.
Declan Rugby for All was born from that desire.
It is our way of honouring a friend who meant so much to so many, and of ensuring that his impact continues to be felt in the communities he cared about.
