About Ms. Deckard

This is Ms. Deckard’s twentieth year at Meridian Middle School and her 21st year teaching.  She is a Mt. Zion native, although she spends a lot of time in Waukee, Iowa,  where her nieces live.  

Ms. Deckard is a graduate of Mt. Zion Schools (2000), and she has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Millikin University (2004).  Ms. Deckard also has a master’s in educational administration from Eastern Illinois University (2010).  

Ms. Deckard's  interests include powerlifting (she has a 810 pound leg press!), history, reading, running, comic books, Marvel movies,  watching the Cubs,  the Vegas Golden Knights, and hanging out with her nieces-Madeline and Eloise.  

In addition to teaching 7th and 8th grade English , Ms. Deckard is also the middle school Meridian Junior Honor Society sponsor.   In years past, she also helped direct several middle school plays and was the scholastic bowl coach from 2007-2019.
