Shruti holds a B.Tech-M.Tech dual degree from IIT Kanpur, with a background in Civil Engineering and Biological Sciences and Bioengineering. Her research interests lie at the intersection of decision neuroscience, cognitive science, and computational modelling, particularly in understanding how humans and other animals navigate uncertainty, learn about their environments, and make decisions about when to persist or explore alternatives.
At the Decision Lab, during her Master's, her research examined how environmental structure and individual differences influence reward-guided decisions using behavioural experiments and computational models. She has previously worked at IIT Jodhpur, investigating information foraging in digital environments. Her current work extends these questions to non-human primates, combining behavioural foraging tasks with electrophysiological recordings to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying adaptive decision-making.
Beyond research, Shruti is interested in art, literature, cinema, and the many ways we make sense of the world. She co-founded Chuckles Art Studio, an art and design venture inspired by literature, science, and visual culture. She also enjoys playing football, exploring unfamiliar places, and occasionally attempting to turn her many interests into coherent projects.
