With predictions of accelerated material use set to double the world’s consumption of materials in 40 years, a transition towards a Circular Economy (CE) may provide a pathway towards sustainability as it addresses waste, reuse, and reduced dependency on raw materials. Supported by the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) programme, the DECEP project will build a new Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) model to provide insight into how new transitions to a CE alter a multitude of socio-economic groups. It will describe and document environmentally related effects and redistributive changes to understand the impacts and who will benefit. The findings will help policymakers create CE frameworks that are viewed as sustainable and socially fair.
