About Me
Hi, I'm December, a craftsperson, videographer and cosplayer based in Colorado, USA. I've been cosplaying and competing at a Master's level for over a decade. My passions lie in advanced construction techniques, process documentation, and crafting education. My builds largely focus on traditional fiber techniques, and my most honed techniques include dyeing, silk painting, silk embroidery and leather carving. Outside of cosplay, I'm an avid reader, fairly good cook and mediocre cellist.

My process will always prioritize the use of traditional artisan craft techniques. I have a deep passion and interest in these precious techniques, as well as a desire to assist in their preservation. I love the often slow, laborious and methodical work that most traditional craft entails, and I love the texture and interest they bring to a project. Some of my favorite traditional techniques are: hand embroidery (esp. couching), woodcarving, silk painting, leather carving and finishing, ronghua and kumihimo.

Sustainability is one of my core values as a craftsperson, both in terms of creating a practice that is thoughtful regarding my body, energy and time, and in terms of environmental impact. I am proudly a slow crafter! I try and source my materials second-hand as much as possible, and this necessitates longer build times. I often work with vintage, second-hand and damaged fabrics. My projects involve a very long "collection time" as I am able to happen upon the correct materials in re-use and thrift stores, and they necessitate some creative use of techniques to transform materials into exactly what I need.

I am a dedicated videographer and create long-form video documenting my process and my projects. I do much of my crafting on camera. My videos present my process for educational purposes, but I have found many of my viewers simply enjoy them as visual ASMR. Education
Education
Through long form video, panels, and hands-on workshops, I am a passionate and dedicated educator. For conventions I offer a number of 50 minute panels, all of which are listed under the "Panels" tab. I also offer a number of hands-on workshops and intensives, aimed at giving students a deep comprehension of a topic while getting to try it in the safety of a classroom. All of my panels are accompanied by PDF guides and all of my workshops have both video and print guides.
