DEBRIEF PRIVACY POLICY

DEBRIEF ("the app") is made by Steppe Summit ("we", "us"). DEBRIEF is built privacy-first. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data. In short: your data stays on your device, we have no account system, and we do not collect, sell, or share your information.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
We do not collect personal information on our servers. DEBRIEF has no account, no sign-up, and no cloud. Every role, candidate, rubric, debrief, note, and rating you create is stored only on your device, and in your own encrypted device backup if you choose to make one.
2. NO ANALYTICS AND NO TRACKING
DEBRIEF contains no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking software. We do not profile you, and we do not sell or share your data. There is nothing for us to sell.
3. AI PROCESSING
DEBRIEF includes optional AI features (scorecard drafts, rubric architect, bias and evidence linter, candidate comparison, and question suggester). These features are off by default and run only when you tap them. When you use one, the text you choose to process is sent to Anthropic's Claude API. Before any request leaves your device, the candidate name is replaced with an anonymous handle (for example "C.7QX"), so Anthropic does not receive the real identity. Per Anthropic's API terms, this content is not used to train models. Identity redaction is on by default. If you turn it off for a specific action, real names may be included in that one request. 4. PURCHASES
Subscriptions and the lifetime purchase are processed by Apple. DEBRIEF never sees your payment details. Apple provides us only an anonymous indication of whether DEBRIEF Pro is active on your device.
5. YOUR CHOICES AND CONTROL
You are always in control of your data. You can export your entire vault (plain or password-encrypted) from Settings, and you can erase everything from Settings using "reset all data". Deleting the app removes all of its on-device data.
6. DATA RETENTION
Because your data is stored only on your device, we do not retain it. It exists for as long as you keep it in the app, and it is removed when you delete it or delete the app.
7. CHILDREN
DEBRIEF is a professional hiring tool intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the effective date above.
