Well, here's my World Cup 2026 football competition.
Simply select 8 countries from the list of 48 countries taking part in the World Cup this summer.

Scoring
Points are awarded as follows:
Each match your selection wins = 10 points PLUS THEIR RANKING NUMBER
Each match your selection draws = 5 points PLUS HALF THEIR RANKING NUMBER
Each match your selection loses = 0 points
Each goal your selection scores = 1 point
Each clean sheet you selection manages = 3 points
A win is a win is a win, whether it's in normal time, extra time or on penalties.
A goal scored in normal time and extra time counts, but not goals from penalty shoot-outs.
A clean sheet includes extra time.
Scoring examples:
If a result is Mexico 4 - 0 Czechia
then Mexico scores 10 (win) + 14 (ranking) + 4 (goals) + 3 (clean sheet) = 31 points
and Czechia scores 0 points.
If a result is Cape Verde 0 - 0 Saudi Arabia
then Cape Verde scores 5 (draw) + 22 (half ranking) + 0 (goals) + 3 (clean sheet) = 30 points
and Saudi Arabia scores 5 (draw) + 20.5 (half ranking) + 0 (goals) + 3 (clean sheet) = 28.5 points
How to enter
Select 8 countries from the 48 taking part.
Here's the catch: YOUR 8 SELECTIONS ACCUMULATED RANKING POINTS MUST BE AT LEAST 120.
Additionally, NOMINATE ONE OF YOUR SELECTIONS AS A JOKER. That country will score double points.
Note that the joker country's ranking is not doubled.
If two entries end up scoring the same points then a simple tie-breaker will be used as follows:
How many goals will be scored in the World Cup's 103 games? (third/fourth play-off game excluded)
This includes goals in extra time, but not goals in penalty shoot-outs.
Whoever is closest to the actual goals scored, wins.
Here's an example of valid entry
1: France
2: Spain
5: Portugal
6: Brazil [Joker]
8: Morocco
23: South Korea
35: Tunisia
40: South Africa
Tie-breaker: 325 goals
In the off-chance that two entries are the same then I'll give the second entrant the option to change their selections.
If you'd like to take part then please e-mail me your selections before noon on Wednesday June 10, 2026
Entry fee is £5 per entry. Enter as many times as you like.
Payment details will be provided when you submit your selections.
Prizes will be calculated when I know how many entries there are.
