Points are awarded as follows:
Each match your selection wins = 10 points PLUS THEIR RANKING NUMBER
Each match your selection draws = 5 points PLUS HALF THEIR RANKING NUMBER
Each match your selection loses = 0 points
Each goal your selection scores = 1 point (win, lose or draw)
Each clean sheet your selection manages = 3 points
A win is a win is a win, whether it's in extra time or on penalties.
Goals scored in normal time and extra time count, but not goals in penalty shoot-outs.
A clean sheet includes extra time.
Scoring example,
If, as is likely, a result is England 4 - 0 Wales
then England scores 10 (win) + 5 (ranking) + 4 (goals) + 3 (clean sheet) = 22 points
and Wales scores 0 points.
If a result is Argentina 0 - 0 Poland
then Argentina scores 5 (draw) + 1.5 (half ranking) + 0 (goals) + 3 (clean sheet) = 9.5 points
and Poland scores 5 + 11 + 0 + 3 = 19 points
In the off-chance that two entries are the same then I'll give the second entrant the option to change their selections.
If two selections end up scoring the same points then a simple tie-breaker will be used as follows:
How many goals will be scored in the World Cup's 64 games?
(includes goals in extra time, but not goals in penalty shoot-outs)
Whoever is closest to the actual goals scored, wins.
If you'd like to take part then please e-mail me your selections and tie-breaker prediction before midnight on Friday November 18.
Entry fee is £5 per entry. Enter as many times as you like.
Payment details will be provided when you submit your selections.
