The Problem
Setting a beautiful, harmonious dining table is inherently a visual decision. Until now, Le Biscuit's customers had to mentally picture how cutlery, chargers, placemats, dinnerware, and centerpieces would look together—with no way to visualize the final setup prior to purchase. This gap caused buyer hesitation, abandoned carts, and isolated single-item purchases that often ended up clashing.
The Solution
A Web3D configurator built in Three.js, seamlessly integrated with the store's real catalog and checkout platform (VTEX). It allows customers to assemble their table setup piece by piece—selecting cutlery, chargers, placemats, cups, plates, glasses, pitchers, napkin rings, sugar bowls, cake stands, salt shakers, tablecloths, and even configuring table dimensions and seating capacity. Users can view the setup from any angle in real-time 3D, build a configuration from scratch, load pre-made curated presets, take a snapshot of their creation, and purchase the entire look in a single click—automatically populating the cart with the exact quantities needed.
My Role
I conceived and built the entire project—from UX research and interface design to Three.js architecture, front-end development, and full e-commerce integration. The only component I didn't execute directly was 3D modeling, which was handled by a 3D artist under my strict technical and visual guidelines to ensure visual consistency and optimal performance.
The Impact
For the end user, it solves a genuine visual decision-making pain point prior to purchase. For the brand, it serves as a high-value asset that drives average order value (AOV)—since natural visual compositions encourage bundled, multi-item purchases rather than standalone sales—while reinforcing Le Biscuit’s position as a retailer investing in meaningful retail-tech that drives conversion directly inside the sales funnel.
