Hello!
My name is Madison Kizer, and I am the De Smet K-12 Student Advisor. I am passionate about building positive relationships with students and helping them navigate academic, personal, and career-related challenges. My goal is to ensure every student feels heard, supported, and equipped with the tools they need to thrive.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from South Dakota State University in 2024, and am currently in the final semester for my Master's degree in the Counseling and Human Resource Development program, specializing in School Counseling. My role as the Student Advisor also fulfills my school counseling internship requirement, providing me with the opportunity to apply my education and gain valuable hands-on experience while supporting the academic, career, and social-emotional development of De Smet students. As I go about providing student counseling services, I will be under the supervision of a professional, licensed School Counselor, Mariah Thury, who has 6+ years of experience in the profession.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time outdoors and making the most of South Dakota’s seasons. Some of my favorite activities include fishing, hiking, and spending time at the lake. I also enjoy playing guitar and finding time to unwind with music. Most of all, I value time spent with family and friends, especially making memories with my nephew, who brings a lot of joy to my life.
If you would like to schedule a time to meet with me, please feel free to send an email to madison.kizer@k12.sd.us or give me a call: (605) 854-3963
