Research Theme
Harnessing enzymatic power for bioenergy and therapeutics.
Research Overview
We are a young interdisciplinary group working at the interface of Chemistry and Biology. Our research activities are focused on the mechanistic understanding of various enzymes (metalloenzymes) and their applications. Employing various tools of chemistry, biochemistry, synthetic biology, molecular biology, and microbiology, we are exploring the function, kinetics, mechanism, and reaction intermediates of several poorly understood enzymes. We are also engineering and utilizing these enzymes in green energy applications and therapeutics.Â
We are currently focusing on the following areas:
Mechanistic investigation of enzymes involved in the biosynthetic pathways of valuable chemicals/pharmaceuticals
Investigation of the therapeutic potential of enzymes against microbial infections
Early detection of neurodegenerative diseases
