About Us

Grace Presbyterian Church, Dumdum was established on 31st July 1995 under the sovereignty of the Almighty God and remains eternally indebted to its founder and the director of Christ Mission Ashram Rev. Dr. Sukrit Roy and his wife Mrs. S. Roy, whose prayers, sacrifice, guidance, dedication and vision help lay the foundations of this Church. It was entrusted to the care and supervision of Rev. Subhas Sardar, Pastor In Charge, Grace Presbyterian Church, Dumdum from the year 1995 till date.

The church started worshipping in the year 1995, 31st July,  at the residence of late Mr. Ranjan Biswas and Mrs. Santana Biswas who opened the doors of their house where the first gathering of the assembly was held.  The first Sunday gathering comprised Rev. Sukrit Roy, Rev. S.Sardar and twelve other believers. The church will forever be grateful to Mr. Biswas and his entire family for welcoming our believers for a long period of twenty years and assisting the church in every way possible as it grew spiritually and in numbers. Their decision to renovate their house led the assembly to shift from their residence to the house of Mr. Shankar Kundu at Madhugarh area of Dumdum in 2015. The Church was immensely blessed to obtain their assistance at the hour of need and can never forget their sacrifice and kindness in hosting the Church at their home for another period of almost three years.

In the year 2007, a branch or a daughter Church was also established in Birati, Dumdum by Rev. Subhas Sarda, along with the initiative and efforts of Mr. Santanu Sarkar, currently a Deacon of the church. The believers met initially at the House of  Mr. M. Hembram for a period of 12 years in Birati, following which Mr.  Sarkar opened the doors of his house and dedicated his first floor to the Church on 1st January 2019. The believers have been gathering regularly for church service there ever since. At present, the Church comprises  nn members.

Believers and well wishers have been continually waiting in prayer for the Dumdum Church to have its permanent church building too. God answered our prayers in the year 2014, 1st August, when a piece of land was purchased at Purba Sinthee Madhugarh area of Dumdum for the church building through the contribution of the members of the church itself. The foundation of the building was laid on 16th December 2016. The building was finally completed and opened for worship on 16 December 2018. Believers have been worshipping in this building ever since. Through its regular Sunday services, Wednesday Bible study hours, musical worship, team outreach programmes and children’s ministry, we spread the gospel of Christ among one and all which forms the spirit and mission of the Church. Currently there are nearly 50 members of the Church and another few seekers who are yet to be incorporated as full members of the Church. The Church also extends its services to the community through its wing, the Grace Holistic Ministry by its participation in welfare programs for the locals.

The Grace Presbyterian Church Dumdum celebrates its 30th Founders Day on 28th of July 2024 through Sunday fellowship of both Dumdum and Birati Church believers. We pray to the Almighty that the Church may fulfil its mission of spreading the living Gospel of Christ among all and prepare its believers to await the day of his return.
