The life mission house plan is an initiative by the Government of Kerala, which aims at providing a shelter to homeless and landless people. Under this project, housing complexes will be built with all modern amenities, and provisions will be made for the beneficiaries to pursue their livelihoods. It is a massive project covering the whole state of Kerala, with a sizeable number of eligible people. The project has been successful to a great extent. Over 20,000 houses have been constructed and handed over to beneficiaries across the state. The next target of the mission is to complete Five Lakh life mission houses in five years. However, cases of discrepancies and anomalies in the list of beneficiaries have been reported. Quite a lot of eligible people have not either made it into the list, or kept waiting in the pending list. This became as a matter of concern and needs to be looked into.
Finding a solution to this issue required efficient analysis and execution by the officials. DC Volunteers have done our bit of contribution to work on these issues. Inorder to clear the discrepancy, we have set up a call center to reach out to the concerned authorities regarding the issues and then reporting them to the Life Mission State Office. With the support from Life Mission State Office and Life Mission Interns, our volunteers played their part efficiently by finding details of the aggrieved. Volunteers helped a lot of benificiaries in completing the procedures and starting the construction activities of their house.
DC Volunteers are carrying out this work all across the Kerala state by assigning coordinators to each district. More than 500 Volunteers from various part of the state are part of this great initiative.
