Join researchers at UDC’s Firebird Farm in Beltsville MD to help support a triple yield research project on combinations of food production, solar energy production, and rainwater harvesting. Learn more about the project while you enjoy tasks such as transplanting, weeding, harvesting, data collection and other general plot maintenance. Sustainable Landscape Workshop Series will introduce sustainable landscape cultivation practices that strengthen a given space's soil, water, and habitat conditions and work towards enhancing overall urban ecosystem health. In the training, we will explore and delve into topics of:
· sustainable space design;
· materials use;
· water and plant identification;
· cultivation;
· habitat development; and
· observation and assessment for long-term success.
Please wear sunscreen, hat, comfortable outdoor clothing, sturdy outdoor footwear (hiking shoes/boots). Please bring water and gloves; and if you have a favorite outdoor tool or book please bring that to share with the group.

LOCATION: UDC-CC Bertie Backus Campus, 5171 South Dakota Avenue Northeast. Come to the greenhouses, located in the back of the building off of Galloway St. There is street parking on Galloway St. and the location is walking distance from the Fort Totten Metro Station.
