CHAPTER NUMBERING GUIDE

Prologue / Chapter 0

The AO3 work begins with:

The prologue occupies AO3's first chapter position.

Therefore:

AO3 Position 1 = Prologue / Chapter 0

AO3 Position 2 = Story Chapter 1

AO3 Position 3 = Story Chapter 2

and so forth.

For most of the current archive:

AO3 Position = Story Chapter Number + 1

Readers should therefore distinguish between the number AO3 uses to describe a chapter's position inside the work and the chapter number printed in the chapter title.

Under the current numbering:

2026 NUMBERING CORRECTION

One important editorial correction affects the later Horizon's Rest chapter sequence.

An unintended duplicate publication previously caused two chapter positions to occupy what should have been a single point in the canonical sequence.

The duplicate was consolidated so that:

Chapter 1139 remains the single canonical chapter at that position.

Beginning with the following chapter, the older numbering decreases by one.

For example:

Former Chapter 1141 → Canonical Chapter 1140

Former Chapter 1142 → Canonical Chapter 1141

Former Chapter 1143 → Canonical Chapter 1142

The corrected sequence continues forward from there.

This was an editorial correction, not a narrative retcon.

No story chronology, characterization, dialogue, relationships, scenes, worldbuilding, or major continuity events were removed or rewritten simply because the numbering changed. The correction removed an unintended duplicate publication so that the chapter sequence once again reflects the intended structure of the work.

Readers consulting older indexes, downloads, archival references, screenshots, discussions, or supplementary documents may therefore encounter later chapter citations that are one number higher than their present canonical equivalents.

When that occurs, use the following order of authority:

2. The newest Master Chapter & Saga Index

3. Current continuity documentation

4. Current wiki references

5. Older archival references

The corrected numbering should be treated as the canonical numbering going forward.

The opening saga establishes Gohan's post-Tournament-of-Power search for a philosophy of strength, responsibility, identity, and balance.

Rather than treating strength as a simple hierarchy of combat power, the story begins examining what strength means when attached to family, scholarship, responsibility, fear, expectation, and the burden of being interpreted by others.

Multiverse Council Saga

Chapters 26–40

The story expands from personal recovery into multiversal governance and the emerging political structures attempting to manage a fragile cosmos.

Questions of individual responsibility widen into questions of institutions: who governs, who advises, who decides, and what happens when systems designed to protect people begin accumulating authority of their own.

Omega's Return Saga

Chapters 41–74

Omega's return escalates the developing crisis and transforms an unstable political environment into an existential threat.

The conflict forces characters and institutions to confront the difference between temporary cooperation and genuine structural unity.

Armageddon Games Saga

Chapters 75–89

The Armageddon Games transform conflict into spectacle as the multiverse prepares for a tournament whose consequences extend far beyond competition.

The saga examines performance, strategy, public expectation, and the dangers of treating people and civilizations as pieces within a larger contest.

Mystic Warrior Saga

Chapters 90–125

Gohan confronts the Mystic Warrior prophecy and the responsibilities others have attached to his identity and power.

The saga increasingly asks whether destiny is something inherited, assigned, interpreted, resisted, or actively chosen.

Dawn of the Unified Cosmos Saga

Chapters 126–142

The aftermath of earlier conflicts begins a new experiment in multiversal reconstruction, education, cooperation, and shared governance.

Victory becomes less important than the structures built after victory.

Shadows of the Fallen Sage Saga

Chapters 143–237

The history and ideological legacy of the Cosmic Sages become increasingly important as supposedly resolved conflicts return through institutions, teachings, descendants, cultural memory, and unfinished political structures.

The multiverse begins discovering that defeating individuals does not automatically dismantle the systems or assumptions they leave behind.

Trials of Balance Saga

Chapters 238–259

The Academy and Cosmic Guardians confront increasingly difficult questions about whether balance can be taught, standardized, institutionalized, measured, or imposed.

The saga closes the First Cosmic War Era by challenging the assumption that a philosophy remains liberating merely because it began with good intentions.

Second Cosmic War Era

Cosmic Reckoning Saga

Chapters 260–286

The Obsidian Dominion and the growing ideological struggle surrounding autonomy, authority, and cosmic governance push the multiverse into another war.

The story's central political tensions become increasingly explicit as different groups disagree over whether stability is best achieved through guidance, structure, control, decentralization, or individual choice.

Third Cosmic War Era

Legacies of Balance Saga

Chapters 287–651

The aftermath of the Second Cosmic War develops into an enormous period of reconstruction, philosophical conflict, cultural growth, family change, institutional experimentation, and renewed instability.

Rather than returning immediately to a single central threat, the saga spends substantial time examining what earlier generations have created and what younger characters inherit from them.

Old victories become infrastructure.

Old mistakes become precedent.

Old philosophies become traditions that later generations must decide whether to preserve, reinterpret, or reject.

Rising Sparks Saga

Chapters 652–754

The next phase intensifies questions of inheritance, participation, and leadership as younger generations increasingly take part in shaping the future built by their predecessors.

The center of gravity begins shifting away from a world defined exclusively by the legendary fighters and leaders who survived earlier crises.

Fourth Cosmic War Era

Cosmic Renaissance Saga

Chapters 755–941

The Fourth Cosmic War tests whether the multiverse can genuinely transform the systems that repeatedly reproduce conflict rather than merely rebuilding them under new names.

The central problem becomes increasingly structural.

Peace cannot be secured simply by replacing one leader, defeating one enemy, or establishing one more institution if the underlying habits of coercion, hierarchy, fear, spectacle, and control remain intact.

Order Reborn Saga

Chapters 942–964

Ideological disagreements over control, autonomy, guidance, and organic development fracture former alliances and place Goku and Gohan on opposing sides of a larger political divide.

Their disagreement becomes inseparable from the wider question facing the multiverse:

When does protection become control?

When does guidance become expectation?

When does an institution created to preserve peace begin reproducing the very conditions it claims to prevent?

Luminary Era

Echoes of Renewal Saga

Chapters 965–987

The aftermath of the Fourth Cosmic War forces surviving families, institutions, communities, and former combatants to confront what their attempts at stability have actually cost.

The emphasis increasingly moves from defeating threats to living with consequences.

Eternal Horizon Saga

Chapters 988–1054

The story turns increasingly toward generational transition, family, memory, purpose, culture, restoration, and the possibility of building a future that is not permanently organized around another expected apocalypse.

War is no longer the only measure of historical significance.

Meals, conversations, archives, homes, relationships, festivals, technologies, caregiving practices, and community traditions increasingly become part of the story's definition of what civilization actually is.

The saga forms the bridge into Horizon's Rest.

Horizon's Rest Era

Horizon's Rest Saga

Chapter 1055 onward

The wars are over.

The question is no longer simply whether the multiverse can survive.

The question is whether its people know how to live after survival.

Horizon's Rest follows the enormous social, cultural, familial, technological, philosophical, institutional, and personal consequences of everything that preceded it.

Former warriors become witnesses, teachers, writers, parents, grandparents, archivists, artists, researchers, builders, caretakers, organizers, and community members.

Younger generations inherit institutions whose founding crises have become history.

People born after the wars encounter systems whose original purposes may no longer be obvious.

Peace does not eliminate conflict.

Instead, conflict often becomes quieter.

It appears through:

Breath Beyond Stars Saga

A postwar multiverse continues learning how to exist when survival is no longer its organizing principle.

The consequences of peace become increasingly intergenerational as people who remember the wars coexist with people who know them primarily through stories, archives, institutions, rituals, inherited practices, and cultural memory.

Path Unbroken Saga

The long work of recovery, memory, culture, and generational transition continues as leadership becomes increasingly decentralized and historical memory becomes something communities must actively negotiate rather than passively inherit.

SOFTNESS CAPTURE WARS ERA

830–900

This is a planned future era.

Its chapter ranges have not yet been permanently assigned.

The era examines what happens when ideas originally developed around comfort, accessibility, emotional safety, accommodation, and communal care become formalized, standardized, commercialized, politicized, and potentially coercive.

Velvet Divide Saga

Softness, care, accommodation, and protection increasingly become subjects of social expectation and political disagreement.

Practices created to support people begin raising new questions about conformity, autonomy, paternalism, and who determines what care is supposed to look like.

Arcade Conundrum Saga

Systems originally associated with regulation, recreation, accessibility, and comfort are increasingly commodified, gamified, quantified, and transformed into mechanisms of behavioral expectation.

The distinction between voluntary participation and engineered compliance becomes progressively harder to ignore.

Bloom Reclaimed Saga

Communities begin reclaiming care as something relational and shared rather than something that must be purchased, scored, optimized, certified, earned, or performed correctly.

The saga turns toward rebuilding forms of support that preserve individual choice instead of converting wellbeing into another system of measurement.

Because Dragon Ball Super: Groundbreaking has developed continuously since 2023, older reference materials may preserve earlier versions of terminology, characterization, chronology, institutional structures, chapter numbering, or worldbuilding.

When two reference sources conflict, use the most recently updated canonical material unless a source explicitly identifies itself as a historical snapshot.

Where genuine ambiguity remains, compare the relevant materials chronologically and determine whether the newer source explicitly revises, reframes, narrows, or supersedes the older one.

ARCHIVAL NOTE

Dragon Ball Super: Groundbreaking has been written, revised, expanded, and documented across several years.

As a result, the project itself now has a history.

Older summaries, Daizenshuu material, wiki revisions, supplemental documents, chapter compilations, outlines, archived references, and historical continuity notes may preserve ideas that were later:
