My research is organized around the central topic of search, with two main areas of focus

1.   consumer search behavior, online and offline

2.   technical aspects of information retrieval (aka search engines)

After completing my PhD in the US, I lived and worked for 10 years in Asia: seven in Hong Kong and three in Korea.


 Some thesis students’ topics:

1. Data Mining in Pharmacovigilance (formal-technical)

2. Persuasion: characterizing online attempts to persuade (machine learning + social-psychology)

3. Tone and Credibility in Quarterly Earnings reports (investor relations + social psychology)
