Please submit a poster proposal by sending email to <DBAED.conference@gmail.com> with the subject line: Poster proposal.

The poster proposal should take the form of an extended abstract (of 2-3 pages) and/or a finished paper, in PDF format. You can also include a PDF version of the poster, if you have one.

Important dates:

  • Submission deadline: 15 24 March 2019 [extended].
  • Notification of decisions: 1 April 2019.
  • Registration for poster session: 15 April 2019.
  • Registration for conference: 1 June 2019.

Guidelines and suggestions for posters:

  • Posters should be in A0 or A1 paper size (A0 =841 x 1189 mm or 33.1 x 46.8 in; A1 = 594 x 841 mm or 23.4 x 33.1 in).
  • Make efficient use of space. But don't make the poster so busy with details that it becomes hard to read.
  • All text should be in font large enough to be read easily from a distance of two metres.
  • Use colour wisely. Colour is an excellent way to highlight important information and clarify technical content, especially in diagrams. But excessive colour can be garish and distracting. Always use strongly contrasting colours for printed text. (Typically, dark text on a very pale background works best.)
  • Graphics (diagrams, graphs, flowcharts, etc.) are a powerful and efficient way to communicate information. But avoid superfluous pictorial elements or meaningless "eye candy".
  • This is an interdisciplinary conference. So the content of the poster should be understandable to non-specialists. Avoid excessive use of jargon, field-specific notational conventions, or unstated background assumptions.
  • You will have the opportunity to explain your poster to spectators during the poster sessions. Nevertheless, the poster should be as self-explanatory and self-contained as possible.
  • Put a website URL or a QR code in your poster to help participants obtain further information.
  • You are encouraged to also bring hand-outs (e.g. preprints) to give to conference participants on request.
