The google translate app on my xiaomi mi 6 suddenly stopped working offline. I have the languages downloaded but it would translate only when i let it use cellular data. I should mention that it worked before few days. Any solutions?

Across all of the indicators of political engagement we measured, youth activism has increased since the 2016 elections. Most striking, however, was the increase in offline political activism from two years ago to today. There are no web APIs that could operate in offline mode alone, without a client library component providing some offline functionality, since the nature of a web API is that that you are making requests to an external host.

That leaves client libraries. Both Google Translate offline and Microsoft Translator offline exist, but these are implemented as applications and not exposed as a developer accessible client library. Mature translation libraries exist in the form of Apache Joshua and Stanford Phrasal, however these are based on statistical rather than neural models.

If you're looking for the one perfect Java library for offline, neural based translation that has already been developed and ready to use you'd be out of luck. For now you'd need to roll your own, for example as you've mentioned using TensorFlow and the sample models. The trained models used by translation service providers are somewhat of a "secret sauce", so it is unlikely these would be made available to developers for free any time soon for use in offline translation, but its completely possible that quality open source or otherwise free translation models will be developed and released by the ML community or third parties.

If you only tap the name of the language, it will only work ONLINE. To have it downloaded for offline use, press the little down arrow to download that language. It will ask you confirm that you want to download it, press download.

We found google translate extremely useful when we were exploring Russia. Especially when we went of the beaten track. I needed it even when we were using the washing machine let alone when talking to people.

I have used the google translate website and that has been really helpful, but I never thought about using the app when traveling for some reason. It does sound like it would make things much easier! Thanks for sharing this info.

Interesting blog. I have used google translate many times to read reviews for accommodation which are written in other languages. Ive found the writing option faster for me than typing. LOL. But recently i bought a new light weight iPad to take to Europe. I was able to download Italian and French but when I have tried to use them offline they do not work. Have been unable to find a solution to this after reading many forums regarding this problem. I leave in a few days and Im pretty frustrated!

I have several Samsung S devices with Verizon and none of them allow for Google or Microsoft translator apps to work in an "offline" mode. I have installed offline languages but when trying to use translator or text to speech with WiFi and Data turned off (offline mode) it does not work.

It only works when I have WiFi or Data is available, even though I have downloaded the languages offline. Seems this issue is common for Verizon carrier with Samsung devices. If use iPhone or Samsung S models with another carrier and download Google translator app or Microsoft translator app with the offline languages it works fine! Why would this be?

I just tried brand new Verizon Samsung S9+ out of the box today and did not work. Tried factory reset, delete and install apps, and still CANNOT use translator offline. The only way it works is if there is WiFi or Data turned on.

I get your point, however offline translator works on other Samsung devices with other carriers. Somehow does not work on Samsung devices with Verizon carrier. But Apple offline translator apps work on Verizon carrier.

Somehow Verizon blocks offline translator on Samsung devices unless data is on. Why is that? This has been an ongoing issue for years on my 4 different Samsung devices. I've gotton nowhere or a fix to it. I'm thinking of leaving Verizon as no-one is willing to assist me.

Can someone tell me why I can't it to work?

I'm having a problem with Google Translate and downloading offline packages for any language. I tap the download button next to the language, it says "Starting download" and the indicator is spinning, but nothing happens and the language pack is not downloaded. The app has the permission to use the storage.

Copy the entire folder from the internal memory Android\data\ com.google.android.apps.translate to the exact same location on the memory card (if prompted, replace the same files that the memory card holds in the same slot).

In the Translate app, you can translate text, voice, and conversations into any supported language. You can also download languages to translate entirely on a device, even without an internet connection.

I was unable to translate the presence states that are in awa_presence_state table to French. It is not getting reflected with translated name/field or by changing the language in settings of servicenow and update the language to french.

I've just had a look, and you won't directly be able to because the field holding the values are "string" fields. In order to make them translatable, you would need to change them to "translated_text" which would mean you would be able to create the translation entries in the [sys_translated_text] table.

Therefore, could you please raise a case on NowSupport (formally Hi) stating that those states are not translated (with a screenshot),
