Community Activities & Recent Events

Our monthly community potlucks were held at various neighbors' homes, or at times outdoors to enjoy our lovely lawn spaces.
Our second of two annual Community Work Days was held in October, with fine weather adding beauty to our time together.
June found us gathering for our annual Progressive Dinner, co-hosted this year by two community families.
We held our annual Spring HOA Business meeting and first of two annual Community Work Days in April.
January was a busy one for DayStar!
- We kicked off the year with a New Year’s party at one of our neighbors’ homes.
- We welcomed the newest and youngest member of DayStar to this world-- with congrats to the new parents!
- We celebrated Daystar’s 32nd Anniversary and continue to appreciate the vision and passion of those who turned their idea of 'living in community' into a reality in 1993.

Regular happy hours on the Community Green or a neighbor's screened porch.
Monthly evening potlucks at rotating hosts’ houses or on the Community Green.
Annual Progressive House Dinner every June.
Community work days as needed.
HOA Business meetings every Spring and Fall and other community meetings as needed.
Harvesting fresh vegetables and herbs from our community garden boxes.
Enjoying each other's company for any reason!

Over the years, our Community Green has hosted family weddings, receptions, birthdays, baby showers, community brunches, outdoor movie nights, and kids' games.
We celebrated 30 years of DayStar in 2023.
DayStar opened our yards and common spaces to the public as part of the Maclay Gardens Annual Tour of Gardens.
The Light House has hosted the Audubon Birding Tour and a house concert by the local musical group, Adventures of Annabelle Lyn.
The Beehive hosted a house concert featuring the acoustic duo, Genna & Jesse.
Solstice Cottage has served as the location for 3 different FSU School of Film crews in the production of short movies.
For 5 years, DayStar cooked and delivered a monthly meal to the Hope Community, a part of the Big Bend Homeless Coalition.
