My name is David Pires, and I am a PhD candidate at the University of Évora. My research focuses on the biological control of the pinewood nematode, Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, using antagonistic fungi. Beyond the lab, I collaborate with De La Salle University's Plant and Soil Health Research Unit and am a co-founder of Active Plant Nematologists. I am also deeply committed to extension outreach and science communication, working to bridge the gap between Nematology research and the public.
